With the MacBook Air, Apple has created the world's thinnest laptop--measuring an unprecedented 0.16-inches at its thinnest nub (and 0.76 inches thick overall). Apple brings its vaunted multi-touch technology, found on the iPhone, to its laptops with the MacBook Air, enabling you to compress, swipe, or rotate to zoom in on text, advance through a photo album, or put in order an image via the oversized trackpad. And the MacBook Air embodies Apple's continuing environmental progress with its aluminum corral, a material highly desired by recyclers, a mercury-free LCD display with arsenic-set free glass, and brominated flame retardant-free material for the majority of girth boards as well as PVC-free internal cables. Despite the its slender shell, the MacBook Air doesn't skimp on the specifications. It includes a 13.3-inch LED-backlit widescreen reveal, full-size and backlit keyboard, and a built-in iSight video camera for video conferencing. This MacBook Air (miniature MC234LL/A) is loaded with a 128 GB solid-state drive, which has no moving parts for enhanced resoluteness. It's powered by a custom-built 2.13 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor, which provides an optimized, multithreaded architecture for improved multitasking discharge. And it features the integrated NVIDIA GeForce 9400M graphics processor, which delivers smashing 3D game play with up to five times faster graphics performance than the previous genesis. Other features include 2 GB of RAM, Wi-Fi connectivity via 802.11a/b/g/n standards, Mini DisplayPort video yield (for DVI and VGA connections), and up to a 5-hour battery life.
Amazingly thin at just 0.16 inches at its thinnest and 0.76 inches at its thickest detail, the MacBook Air weighs just 3 pounds. | It comes pre-loaded with Apple's Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard operating system--an operating system duty-designed for the advanced technology inside--and it also comes with the iLife '09 retainers of applications, including iPhoto, iMovie, Garageband, and iTunes.
With the trackpad's Multi-Begin technology, you can pinch, swipe, or rotate to adjust an image, zoom in on printed matter, or advance through a photo album. |
The MacBook Air includes a vibrant 13.3-inch LED-backlit pomp and a full-sized keyboard (see larger image). | Design The thinness of MacBook Air is impressive, but even more arousing is that fact that there's a full-size notebook encased in the 0.16 to 0.76 inch of specious, sturdy anodized aluminum. This svelte, 3-pound laptop has a vibrant, spirit efficient 13.3-inch LED-backlit glossy widescreen display, and its immense trackpad offers multi-touch gesture support for pinch, gyrate and swipe--making it more intuitive than ever to browse and rotate photos or zoom into web pages in Safari. It also features a full-evaluate keyboard that's backlit, making it ideal for dimly lit environments such as airplanes, studios or talk halls. It includes a built-in ambient light sensor automatically adjusts the joyfulness of the keys as well as the display brightness for optimal visibility. One of Apple's most celebrated innovations is the MagSafe power adapter connector, which offers a spellbinding connection instead of a physical one. So, if you happen to trip over a power cord, you won't send the MacBook Air flying off a plateau or desk--the cord simply disconnects, without damage to either the cord or the system. Intel Marrow 2 Duo Processor Custom-built to fit within the compact dimensions of the laptop, the MacBook Air is powered by a 1.86 GHz Intel Centre 2 Duo processor with a super-fast 1066 MHz front-side bus (FSB), and an enormous 6 MB of Smart Cache, an L2 stash that can be shared between the cores as needed. (An L2, or secondary, cache temporarily stores evidence; and a larger L2 cache can help speed up your system's performance. The FSB carries data between the CPU and RAM, and a faster front-side bus will announce better overall performance.) The Intel Core 2 Duo's 128-bit SSE3 vector apparatus handles 128-bit computations in a single clock cycle, accelerating evidence manipulation by simultaneously applying a single instruction to multiple data. And its two mode cores are designed to share resources and conserve power, helping it to reach higher levels of performance since it uses fewer watts. And with 4MB of shared L2 supply, the MacBook Air is a multi-tasking monster. With such substantial L2 cache, data and instructions can be kept closed to the two processor cores, greatly increasing performance and allowing the entire system to toil more efficiently. And, because the processor cores share the L2 cache, either can use the entire amount if the other happens to be shiftless. Video Processing & Output Whether you're working on a Keynote presentation or watching a cinema before you catch a flight, every document, video, and photo on your MacBook Air will look sharp on the pretended 13.3-inch widescreen display. With the new NVIDIA GeForce 9400M integrated graphics processor, the MacBook Air changes the misrepresent and just about everything you do with it. The 9400M provides up to an amazing 4x performance boost over the original MacBook Air. Photos look in iPhoto quickly, transitions in Keynote are seamless, games play more smoothly, and flick picture show and video playback is better than ever before. The 9400M graphics processor shares 256 MB of DDR3 SDRAM with particular memory. The MacBook Air now includes a next generation Mini DisplayPort, which delivers a pure digital timer that can drive up to a 30-inch widescreen display. The Mini DisplayPort is ultra-succinct at just 10 percent the size of a full DVI connector, and is compatible with Apple's 24-inch Movie theater Display. Adapters are also available for using VGA, DVI/HDMI and Dual-Link DVI displays Distinct Drive and Memory For storage, this MacBook Air comes with a 128 GB solid-state close drive. Faster and more reliable, solid memory provides a rapid boot-up and quicker right of entry to applications while improving battery life. It's also more reliable than a hard disk push because there are no moving parts. Since data is written to stationary memory instead of a spinning strong addictive disk, you have less risk of hardware problems with the hard disk when you're on the move. The 2 GB of PC3-8500 DDR3 RAM (two SO-DIMMs of 1024 MB) has an determination-leading 1066 MHz speed, and it maximizes the capacity for this laptop. Optical Private road Because of the amazingly thin design of the MacBook Air, an optical (DVD/CD) drive was not included. To install software from a disc, you can wirelessly use or "obtain" optical drives on remote PCs or Macs using the Remote Disk plaice. This allows you full access to an optical drive without having to haul one around. If you want to have an visual drive for burning CDs and DVDs, you can purchase the optional MacBook Air SuperDrive (sold independently). Expected with the Environment in Mind Apple has worked hard to eliminate many of the toxins that are a common part of computer manufacturing. Apple engineers removed the preponderance of brominated flame retardants (BFRs) and polyvinyl chloride (PVC) from circuit boards, internal cables, connectors, insulators, adhesives, and more in the MacBook Air. Because Apple makes both the ironmongery and the software for the MacBook, they're designed to work together to produce a smarter product that uses less excitement. For instance, to reduce energy consumption, the hard drive spins down mechanically when inactive. MacBook Air also decides which processor--CPU or GPU--is best suited to efficiently perform a major effort. The processor even throttles down to save power between keystrokes as you type. The LED-backlit parade in MacBook Air is another feature that plays an important part in conserving energy, consuming 30 percent less power than accustomed LCD displays. And the display is designed to dim when you enter a darkened room. The MacBook Air meets the stringent low power requirements set by the EPA, giving it Dash STAR certification. MacBook also meets the latest efficiency requirements of ENERGY Top Version 5.0 Specification for Computers before its July 2009 effective age. The MacBook Air has also earned the highest rating of EPEAT Gold. The Electronic Product Environmental Safety check Tool, or EPEAT, evaluates the environmental impact of a product based on how recyclable it is, how much dynamism it uses, and how it's designed and manufactured. Mac Air
There have been slews of reviews panning the Mac Air due to limitations. I'm not a techie so for me it is a perfect fit. I own a desktop mac and can do on it what I can't on the Air. The Air is great for junket or just to carry around the house when I don't want to be pinned down to my desk. It is super insignificant weight. Yes, it meant shelling out some serious change for what is basically a Netbook on steroids but distinguishable from a Netbook, it is substantial. Full keyboard, GREAT screen, etc., etc., etc. Then again, the new IPad may fill those needs for others. Your acceptance. K

Was pleasantly surprised
First of all this will not be resemblance between PC and MAC. I use both as well as a few different flavors of Unix (Linux, Ubuntu, BSD) and I also own a current generation 21.5 inch iMAC that is maxed on it's components and 15" MacBook Pro that is also maxed out on it's hardware.
So why did I buy this and why did I buy it from Amazon. That's easy, I'm lucky enough to have a large Apple have faith 20 miles from my house so I have been "playing" with the Air ever since it's release but until now I could not justify owning one but secretly always wanted one. I will let in that I have not played too much with this particular setup until now. I bought this from Amazon because I received lots of Amazon capability cards for Christmas and needed to use them and now with the 90+ dollars off Amazon was offering, let's by a hair's breadth say my cost out of my pocket was down in the $800.
The reason I bought this was the ability to travel lite. My 15 inch is not that much heavier but I found that I solely do not use all of it's features when I travel. I very rarely need more than one USB port and if I do with the Air, I'll have a small USB hub in the case. The scarcity of a DVD player is also not an issue for me. I can count on one hand how many times I used the one in the 15 ideal and that was only to install some software. I use the one in the iMAC a lot as I create video and DVD's for myself and others.
I thought the smaller select and lack of ability to add memory would be an issue but so far I have not even worried about more memory. I went into buying this Air aware exactly what it could do and what I expected from it, but like I mentioned the ability to add more memory would be nice.
Would I counsel it to someone, yes I would, but only after that person understands what it can and cannot do. If all you are going to do is run the occasional program like Office, or any of the iLife or iWork products then you will be in acceptable shape. Start adding in most Adobe products like Photoshop CS4 and the like and you will see a completion hit as the machine is not built to do that kind of work. It will work, but it will be a bit slow. I read another reassessment were the person says the Air is in-between a Netbook and a full fledged laptop and I'd agree with that to a point. While much more high than any Netbook I looked at, it is still a full fledged laptop, just toned down.
As far as the price, with the 91 dollars off favourable now and the gift cards I got a steal and them some. I suspect that the normal price reduction is based on what Apple is surmise to release on Jan 27, 2010. This actually made me wonder if I should wait to see if a new generation Air was coming, but the charge was just to hard to pass up. I doubt seriously if they do announce a different Air I would be failed, I like mine way too much
What will I do with the 15 inch, I'm going to place it in the spare bedroom for my overnight guests to use and only let it access to the internet and not the rest of my network, they will have access to the other software on it but I'll do what the Apple stores do and name it so that a reboot literally restores the machine to a just installed setup. I've seen how they do this and it's not that much unusual than using the Kickstart program that comes with just about every version of Unix nowadays, this way my guests can configure it any way they would like and a full put is jsut a reboot away

Skilful for traveling!
Wonderful light, very user friendly... overall good price for what you get.
Intended MAC OS X, it is all about the ease of use and seamless software and hardware integration.
Not recommended for desktop replacement!!

One of Apple's Most successfully Ever
I'll say it equitable away: I love the MacBook Air (MBA). I am a PowerBook collector, and have been using Apple's portables for many years, so I have some stout background in relation to their portable computers.
You may not know this, but in 1997 Apple had what, at the time, could be designed as a MBA. It was the PowerBook 2400c. What a machine it was. Small (10.4" screen) and light (4.4 lbs.). It came sans floppy enterprise: floppies were built into many laptops around the time the 2400c hit the streets, although they were on there way out. It also had reduced ports, but still included 2 PC Dance-card slots. Strangely, it has a sort of unibody case, a landmark in design at the prematurely. Underneath, you will find no interruptions in the case: it's all one, and the case wraps up and around smoothly. Released only in Japan, with a moment ago a handful of the units making it to the US, it is a rare machine indeed.
I think the reason Apple locked up it to the Asian market was because the keyboard is 87% the size of a full-sized keyboard: it's a netbook rate keyboard. People are larger in other parts of the world, so they may have thought that users wouldn't take to it in those areas. All-inclusive, the 2400c could be considered as a netbook: Apple's first and only netbook to-date.
But what about the MBA you say. Isn't that a netbook? The MBA is a ultra-shirt-pocket laptop, rather than a netbook. It's a full featured laptop. Apple never meant it to be a netbook. It makes not quite any of the compromises that netbooks make. You get a full-sized, backlit keyboard. A 2.13 Ghz Heart 2 Duo, with an Nvidia 9400M, 256 MB graphics card, the same one found in Apple's MacBook and entry MacBook Pros. Some compromises are shortage of a firewire port; 1 USB port; no ethernet port; no DVD-drive...
But with things like Sequestered Disc, etc. I don't need any of these things that are missing on the MBA, especially since this is a companion computer to my Mac Mini and MacBook Pro.
This exemplar is much improved over the first generation MBA: better graphics chip, faster processor, and cheaper. Combining these specifications with such a thin, gleam design is impressive. What about its performance? It performs very well, I am happy to report, after 5 months of use. iWork, HD playback, web surfing... It's the SSD that truly helps things along. Shutdown times, application launches, everything is speedy because of the SSD. It's in actuality faster for many tasks than pretty much any MacBook/Pro that is running a standard platter hard determination.
But things like converting audio and video... the MacBook Pros will sell more than the MBA because of their faster processors and ability to use more RAM. This leads to the following question: Can the MBA be used as a exclusive machine? My answer to this is yes, depending on your needs. It is capable of being a sole machine. But if you are someone working with video, audio, and the like, you would be onto to go with a MacBook Pro (i.e. 15"). But still, this machine is capable enough that you can throw pro apps at it and it will work for you.
Here is the caveat with the MBA though. Don't have too many applications disclose at once, because it only has 2 GB of RAM. There are a few service providers out there who will unsolder the RAM from the MBA's motherboard, and solder back on 4 GB of RAM. If I were using this a a sole engine I would probably go for that service. But you can still get by using it as a sole machine with 2 GB of RAM.
Here is one piece of advice: get click-to-glint. It shuts down flash in Safari, or whatever browser you are using, and makes internet surfing more submissive on the MBA. It's not that flash makes browsing on the MBA impossible, it's just that it frees up resources and speeds things up. With instant heavy sites like YouTube, playing flash videos, for case in point, can cause this model to heat up some, and then, by default, the video will become a bit choppy. This will only really become of come upon if you are obstructing the air vents on the MBA. So if you are not using click-to-flash, make sure your MBA's vents are take a run-out powder a eliminate and free of any obstructions when web surfing.
But, mind you, flash in Safari causes even the MacBook Pros to excitement up...
Let's now get back to what really sets this unit apart from anything on the market: it's super light and wonderful thin. I did an in depth comparison to the Dell Adamo, and determined that the MBA is actually much thinner all-embracing than the Adamo, even though the MBA is thicker than the Adamo at its thickest point. It's just that more of the MBA is significantly thinner than the Adamo, so whole it's much thinner, and it shows. Not only this, but the MBA is much more powerful: better processor and better graphics.
It is a joy to use and conduct such a small, thin and light device, especially in comparison to lugging around the MacBook Pro 15.4". And for those of you who are switching from the honourable PowerBook G4 12.1", you won't be sorry. This machine makes it look antiquated, and its bolt leaves it in the dust.
Other things I like about the MBA specifically: the screen is great. The worst screen Apple has ever done. Somehow it is less reflective than my 15.4" MacBook Pro. The trackpad is nice and large, too. The retractable ports are indeed cool, and battery life is decent as well.
For those contemplating a netbook, I was too. I finally sure that netbooks just made far too many compromises and opted for the MBA. I guess my logic went closely along the same lines as Apple, since Steve said during the MBA Keynote that netbooks make too many compromises and aren't usefulness the trouble. But if you want something diminutive for very light computer use, netbooks might be your ticket item. For me though, I couldn't spirited with the paltry processing power, small keyboards and trackpads, and tiny screens.
Lastly, one item to keep in mind is that this machine, because it is so thin and light, is a tad fragile. It's still rugged, but you have to be more careful with it than, say, a MacBook. I wish the scan would open up more, but other than this, and the heat issue as described above, it's pretty much a perfect product.
Apple, well done.

Video Processing & Output Whether you're working on a Keynote presentation or watching a silver screen before you catch a flight, every document, video, and photo on your MacBook Air will look sharp on the fraudulent 13.3-inch widescreen display. The 9400M provides up to an amazing 4x performance boost over the original MacBook Air. Photos part of in iPhoto quickly, transitions in Keynote are seamless, games play more smoothly, and silent picture and video playback is better than ever before. The 9400M graphics processor shares 256 MB of DDR3 SDRAM with pipe memory. The MacBook Air now includes a next generation Mini DisplayPort, which delivers a pure digital timer that can drive up to a 30-inch widescreen display. The Mini DisplayPort is ultra-dense at just 10 percent the size of a full DVI connector, and is compatible with Apple's 24-inch Movie theater Display. Adapters are also available for using VGA, DVI/HDMI and Dual-Link DVI displays Tough Drive and Memory For storage, this MacBook Air comes with a 120 GB Serial ATA hard disk enterprise (4200 RPM). The 2 GB of PC3-8500 DDR3 RAM (two SO-DIMMs of 1024 MB) has an industry-leading 1066 MHz zip, and it maximizes the capacity for this laptop. Optical Drive Because of the amazingly thin design of the MacBook Air, an visual (DVD/CD) drive was not included. Because Apple makes both the arms and the software for the MacBook, they're designed to work together to produce a smarter product that uses less tension. For instance, to reduce energy consumption, the hard drive spins down on impulse when inactive. MacBook Air also decides which processor--CPU or GPU--is best suited to efficiently perform a piece of work. The processor even throttles down to save power between keystrokes as you type. The LED-backlit put in MacBook Air is another feature that plays an important part in conserving energy, consuming 30 percent less power than received LCD displays. And the display is designed to dim when you enter a darkened room. The MacBook Air meets the stringent low power requirements set by the EPA, giving it Vivacity STAR certification. MacBook also meets the latest efficiency requirements of ENERGY Headliner Version 5.0 Specification for Computers before its July 2009 effective lover. The MacBook Air has also earned the highest rating of EPEAT Gold. The Electronic Product Environmental Hold back Tool, or EPEAT, evaluates the environmental impact of a product based on how recyclable it is, how much animation it uses, and how it's designed and manufactured. Very fine, but not perfect
I'm a PC, but I'm also a Mac. A Macbook Air (MBA) to be requisition. I'm very much into design so it just made sense. I first considered something like the Dell Adamo, Latitude Z or the HP ENVY13, But the Dells were heavily under-powered processor-judicious. The HP was crazy powerful, but heftier than I would have liked. The Latitude's Euro design gave the MBA's draw a run for it money, but it starts at over two grand and you'll easily knock on $2500 with the bells and whistles, Yikes! The HP Longing 13 is very powerful and the only ultra-portable with the i7 processor. But for what I'll be using this for, the mobility and expenditure is more important to me. The Adamo seemed to match the price and features of the Macbook Air best, but finding that the originate, feature and price pretty much a draw (I personally thought the MBA had a very small sensitive on Design), I settled on the MBA because of the fact that I can run Windows 7 as well as Mac OS X(which I also use for different purposes)and the better shape quality. I have to say, the unibody design really makes the thing feel as if it was imprinted from one piece of aluminum. There's minimal flex to speak of. Closed, it just feels so close in your hands.
The 1.8GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor is a lot better than the 1.2 and 1.4 that are within reach in the Dells; more than enough for my usage. This might have been a bit meek had I not already had an Intel Core 2 Quad Desktop computer at dwelling-place. This also made HP ENVY pointless.
The screen is more than adequate and much better than a netbook. Since it's so light, it Non-Standard real can go anywhere a netbook can. The nice Keyboard and trackpad was also refreshing.
The Solid State Conduct is also nice, but after some usage, I really don't find them all that different from a standard HD, perhaps a bit faster, but not that noticeable. It unquestionably is cooler and less noisy. Some users have complained about it getting a bit warm, but I'm thinking they've got an HD as a substitute for of an SSD.
And now for the few CONs:
No optical drive - since I won't be needing this too often it's not a big deal. I already have an external Blu-Ray Drive that I hand-me-down to install everything. Once that was done, I can only image using it for an occasion Blu-Ray/DVD movie, but even this will be rare, unless I'm in a motel room somewhere and bore out of my mind.
Connectivity:
No Ethernet, big deal! It's all about wireless!
Preternatural Mini Display port - also not a big deal since I don't imaging connecting an external scan to this much.
Only one USB - This one, I admit, is pretty significant. It was a bit of hassle to swap USB devices a bit, but again, I only use multiple devices a mischief-maker of times (mainly a USB DJ Console Mixer and an external USB HD containing the music I be to mix). I got a little griffin USB "Splitter" which was nothing more than a very tiny USB Hub, but it did have some trouble getting enough power to the HD from this one USB anchorage, so I did have to add a USB power cable to the mix (the audio was clipping heavily during mixing and transition). So keep that in skin alive if you're planning to daisy-chain three hard drives, a soda cooler and a reading lightsome to the USB port- just don't. It works fine with the majority of other (low powered) USB devices.
RAM - Here's the other big CON! While 2GB of RAM will presumably be ok for now, but I would have loved having the option of adding more. I have 8GB on my desktop and I actually use it (photo and video editing, media fore functions, terminal services, etc.)! While I'm not doing much of that (maybe a little Photoshoping) on this fetich, all it takes is that killer application that requires at least 4GB of RAM that I can't use that will drive me nuts!
I have a first generation Macbook Pro from employment and I always loved the design of it. This takes things to the next level. I'm primarily a Windows alcohol, and this seems to work a bit more seamlessly with Windows than the Macbook Pro(although with the latest drivers and software updates for bootcamp from apple, it got elevate surpass). It's kinda odd that I went with an Mac to run Windows, but it was a calculated choice. Had I been looking for a full-function laptop, it would have suitable been an HP or Dell.

Well-Executed Goods
I bought this after many months of not having a CD vigour for my macbook air. It works well, is recognized quickly when plugged in, and burns CDs quickly. The only con is that it doesn't m with my regular macbook, not that it needs to since there is one built in, but it'd be convenient if I wanted to burn 2 cds at once or burn a cd duplicate from one onto another....

Other Options
While the SuoerDrive plays well with the MACBOOK Air there are other Drives you can use that play at most as well. I have the "Samsung USB 2.0 8x DVD Writer External Optical Drive SE-S084B" and it works spectacular with the MBA. I used it to load all my programs to my MBA. If the DVD fails to eject you can always manually eject it momentous the eject button something the SuperDrive does not permit. I did get the SuperDrive and it's a good join aesthetically and functions as advertised. Just remember, there are less pricey options for your MBA that trade with more than just the MBA.

Also makes a huge repair part!
We needed a new DVD tour for our Core Duo Mac Mini and Apple branded replacements are not cheap. This works as a no-hack OEM fix for the Mini. Relocate the drive, brackets and board from this drive, then six screws to get the drive out of the Mac Mini and off you go!

Essentially Incompatible
This is a perfected example of Apple's philosophy of making incompatible devices, so that people have to buy more and more of their stuff. This journey works *only* with MacBook Air. I have a MacBook Pro, and it doesn't recognize this drive at all! You can't even eject a disc. Anyway, I bought it at the Apple Believe in, since this was the only way to install Windows -- and then returned it for a full refund. The drive is absolutely ineffectual..

Sound but expensive.
I bought this to supplant my old adapter. The old one had fallen apart on the piece magnetic piece that connects to the computer. I heard that ALL the adapters sever at some point under one and a half years. Apple must sure be making a killing on these since they are friggin $80! So far this new one has held up and I faith I won't have to replace it in the near future again. We'll see.

The Rope Breaks
I had to come this to the local Apple store after a year of use as the cord cracked near it's entrance to the block. They did give me a new one without charge and said that this has happened a lot. If you travel a lot do not wind it around the wings that fold out as you will garb out the cord at the insertion.

Win-Lose out
[If you'd like to scrape some money with little risk, my experience with picking up a refurb (from the seller "macpoweradapter") was unreservedly satisfying. it appears that these people know how convert the Mac Adapter's fatal fissure (the tearing or shorting out of the wire) into a mere flesh wound, restoring the adapter to parsimonious-mint condition. While there are no small number of Apple purists, who believe it necessary to invest over $30, for example, on a rubber case for their iTouch, I've found as good if not better on Amazon for under five bucks. The assay discrepancies for the adapter are not so dramatic but are nonetheless not inconsiderable.]
Despite the exorbitant quotation, over time this Apple product pays for itself. Whereas formerly I would go through several per year, the "break-away" magsafe think up is a money saver (not to mention lifesaver should you be down to a single power adapter and can scanty afford a broken wire). However, it tends to come loose more commonly than the comparable adapter for a regular MacBook, aborting projects while I'm using the computer in safe style. I wish the magnetic attraction were a bit stronger.
But the above is basically the price paid for dependent state to a Mac Air. The receptacle faces slightly downward, at a 45 degree rather than a 90 considerably angle on the computer's left side. Given the thinness of the base, or bottom shell, I understand the lack for the slant but wish it were on the top rather than bottom side, which no doubt would require some clever re-engineering (to maintain the computer's wafer-thin exploit). Another solution of sorts would be improved battery life, so that a user could depend on a genuine 4 hours or more after each charge, thereby obviating the need for constant power connection (admittedly I run my shroud bright, reducing battery life to a scant 90 minutes).
When all is said and done, it's ust another business-off for a Mac Air--perhaps even contributing to the strange allure of this machine to those of us who are devoted to it. (Mine is even the solid delineate model before the huge Apple price reduction. Now if only the attraction of the plug to its magnetic grovelling were as strong as my attraction to this machine...)

Intel Core 2 Duo Processor Custom-built to fit within the epigrammatic dimensions of the laptop, the MacBook Air is powered by a 1.8 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor with a wonderful-fast 800 MHz front-side bus (FSB), and an enormous 4 MB of Smart Cache, an L2 cache that can be shared between the cores as needed. (An L2, or second-line, cache temporarily stores data; and a larger L2 cache can help skedaddle up your system's performance. The FSB carries data between the CPU and RAM, and a faster front-side bus will deliver better overall deportment.)
The innovative now-you-see-it, now-you-don't port hatch flips down to reveal (and closes to hide) all the ports you very need: a USB 2.0 port, a headphone jack, and a micro-DVI port. | The Intel Heart 2 Duo's 128-bit SSE3 vector engine handles 128-bit computations in a single clock cycle, accelerating evidence manipulation by simultaneously applying a single instruction to multiple data. And its two realization cores are designed to share resources and conserve power, helping it to get higher levels of performance since it uses fewer watts. And with 4MB of shared L2 store, the MacBook Air is a multi-tasking monster. With such substantial L2 cache, data and instructions can be kept seal to the two processor cores, greatly increasing performance and allowing the entire system to calling more efficiently. And, because the processor cores share the L2 cache, either can use the entire amount if the other happens to be on the beach. Other Features - DVI output using micro-DVI to DVI adapter (included)

Benefit the price!
While it is trustworthy that the MacBook Air is not for everyone, this is the best computer I have owned. Mine is the SSD version and it is my work computer, used for Web development, occasional graphics toil in Creative Suite, and bookkeeping using QuickBooks for Windows via Parallels.
After reading all the think through about the relative performance compared to more powerful machines as well as complaints about lack of ports and other "features", I have found that the realistic daily ease-of-use is incredible. It is quiet and very portable, the screen is fantastic, the trackpad is exceptionally responsive, waking from sleep is instantaneous, and the speed for regular work using a heterogeneity of applications is very fast.
My existing peripherals work with the Air. The only accessories I purchased are the USB Ethernet adapter and a neoprene sleeve. I do not own a SuperDrive, Computer Extreme router, or Time Capsule backup. I was able to reinstall OS X Leopard without many of the extras and saved a historic amount of disk space. With all my applications and files, there is still 29 GB of available space on the 64 GB manoeuvre.
Customizing the set up was surprisingly easy. Using a typical non-Apple wireless router and the USB Ethernet adapter, I plugged in to the wired ports and hand-me-down Remote Disc to reinstall Leopard and several third-party applications. After the initial set up, Removed Disc then works over any wireless network. For backing up, I use a 2.5-inch, SATA acrimonious drive in a USB enclosure. The USB port on the Air delivers enough power out of the single connection (no two-wired connections life-and-death).
Compared to my former machine, a MacBook Pro with 4GB of memory, the two caveats are that I cannot have a ton of application open at once, and intensive Photoshop travail takes a performance hit. But these two negatives are far outweighed by the positives.
Since prices are coming down for SSDs in loose, the price is coming down on the Air with SSD. I purchased mine for just slightly more than my former MacBook Pro. And for me, it was definitely worth it.

Perceptive if you don't mind it being out-dated within 6 months !!!
I really do not own this but my friend bought one a month ago. Very simply put; it is a nice toy if you have thousands of dollars to improvidence. In a very short time from now it will be seriously out-dated and Apple will push a fancier and more cost noticeable(cheaper)one. TERRIBLE VALUE

I Attraction It--Now I Want My Own!
This is prevailing to be a short and sweet review, because I don't actually own this laptop, but a friend has let me try hers several times.
I loved everything about it: Judge, ease of use, speed, keyboard, monitor, EVERYTHING.
Let me confess here that I'm not especially "technically sloping". So, to be fair, I'm giving it 4 stars--since some techical folks may be aware of faults that escaped me.
I'll be back to update this review when I get my own contrivance--which I want!

Macbook Air
Bought 3 of these laptops. This commentary is for all 3. Very good laptop. But you would not expect less from Apple. Packaged in a very nice black box. Very paltry and light. Although very thin its keys are made from solid material and one will enjoy using them. Many people peradventure not accustomed to Apple's operating system but its more reliable than Microsoft's. Also fancy gui. When you switch it on for the first time you have to accomplish a series of forms and settings so that it can adjust everything automatically. It found my wireless network without upset and logged into the internet.
It only has one usb. 2 would have been nice. But the real disapointment is that does not have an visual drive. One has to get an external one.
Except only 1 usb and no dvd writer I do not think that there are bad things about this laptop. It is very recommended for those that take a lot and do not want too much power out of the laptop.
