The beginning of every MacBook Pro--a precisely machined, single block of aluminum. | Unibody Stratagem Traditionally, notebooks are made from multiple parts. With the MacBook Pro all of those parts with just one part--the breakthrough unibody cote. Every MacBook Pro starts its life as a single block of aluminum, which is precisely machined into the focal unibody design. Another pass and the unibody takes shape. Another, and the integrated keyboard emerges. When you pick up a new MacBook Pro, you directly notice the entire enclosure is thinner and lighter. LED-Backlit Pomp LCD displays typically use cold cathode fluorescent lamps, or CCFLs, to produce light and project a picture onto a screen, and this creates two problems--the lamps coerce more space and they take more time to warm up to full brightness. The MacBook Pro uses LED backlight technology to initiate the same amount of brightness in less space. And unlike fluorescent lamps, an LED backlight reaches top brightness instantly. Finally, a new, smaller iSight camera is concealed behind the flaunt for quick access to video chats and snapping pics for uploading to group networks.
The entire trackpad is the button, so you can click anywhere. | Additionally, conventional CCFL displays use mercury to think up a backlight and arsenic to prevent irregularities in the glass. The LED-backlit display on the MacBook Pro, on the other disburse a deliver, is both mercury- and arsenic-free. On a single charge, the battery in the new 13-inch MacBook Pro lasts up to 10 hours. And you'll get up to 1000 full debit and discharge cycles--that's nearly three times the lifespan of typical notebook batteries. Enlightened chemistry and Adaptive Charging allow the battery to maintain charging capabilities longer and judge the optimal way to charge the battery's cells. Because the battery lasts up to five years, MacBook Pro uses just now one battery in the same time a typical notebook uses three. That makes for less waste. And that, in end up, makes for one environmentally friendly battery. Environmental Considerations Apple has worked sharp to eliminate many of the toxins that are a common part of computer manufacturing. Apple engineers removed the majority of brominated ardour retardants (BFRs) and polyvinyl chloride (PVC) from circuit boards, internal cables, connectors, insulators, adhesives, and more in the MacBook Pro. I had a dell inspiron (windows xp) for the last four years or so. I had utilized the family pc before that. My laptop was good at first. After about a year though it got a virus which caused me to lose everything and then have to start the computer from abrasion. This happened two more times within the next two years. It was completely annoying. The computer itself was bulky and would get really hot. I had to put back the battery a few times and the actual computer rarely lasted for more than an hour without being plugged into the block. I had had enough so when considering a laptop for college I looked up macbooks. I went to the apple store scholastic a bit about it and decided to buy the 13inch macbook pro. I cold not be more happy. The computer is small and light. The design is slimy and the computer doesn't get really hot. I like how the applications are set up because it feels less cluttered. Also, they're easy to use and if I don't informed how to use something apple has plenty of tools to help me understand. I can charge the computer and then it will last for two days without me needing to debit it again. What's even better is that the battery isn't being used if you are not using the computer. The computer runs beautifully and overall I am extremely happy with the purchase. I am definitely never going back to a pc!

APPLE ROCKS BUT UPS MADE IT Awful!!!!
I received a call on 8/27 at 806 am that I was to thwart home and wait till 7 pm for my new Macbook to be delivered....at 645 pm the Amazon company screen read that it was NOT coming as UPS screwed up and sent it to Ontario at 454 PM today preferably of arriving at the Palm Springs facility. I am now expected (in this economy) to stay shelter ANOTHER entire day to be able to sign for my beloved Macbook Pro this Monday. The UPS $35 an hour teamsters have now price me $500 to stay home and have to reschedule two days business! THANK YOU UPS for compelling nearly HALF the cost of my computer for YOUR screw up. Not to mention the countless items I have had to carry back to Amazon because UPS breaks them!!! UPS is NOT cost effective to anyone. Amazon was kind enough to give me a immature token of sorrow a $10 gift card. My advice ~ see if you can get it shipped another way so you are not one of the UNLUCKY ones in contrast with a few here with NO issue on delivery. Can you tell I am a little PEEVED about this!
In regards to the MacBook Pro ~ You will NEVER want another computer again (this is my next)! They are the cream of the crop for a reason ~ they WORK!

Apple Macbook does it again!
I have the sometime model of the Macbook Pro 13" model and I wish I would have waited four months to get this upgraded scale model. Nonetheless the MBP is a great product.
Although it is one of the lower end models of the MBP family, it is really great. I was really impressed when I was able to manage software such as Photoshop, Final Cut Pro, and/or After Effects well. I've had the laptop for eight months and I do not detect a decline in quality in the product.
I take my laptop everywhere with me. Sometimes I feel that I should treat it better, but the laptop itself is in the end sturdy. Although the price of the MBP is high compared to other laptops in the market, I feel that spending the collateral cash is well worth it. Apple has great customer service, I have friends that have had their old Macbooks for years, and Snow Leopard and all its components, i.e. iLife, are important in compare to Win7.
The MBP is an investment. I believe in quality over quantity and this product represents that.

Very undone
Amazon have not shipped me the latest exemplar. This model only has a six hour battery life, not the ten hours as advertised. That is really sad.

THESE MACHINES R Good THE PRICE
Between using the Macs and PCs, it's always been Macs, hands down. From the Powerbook G3 Pismos to the Powerbook G4s and the Macbook Pros (pre-Unibody), they've been principled and lasted me a while. One 15" Powerbook lasted me 5 years.
This Macbook Pro 13 2.66 is no different; but man, it is so much faster and condensed than my 15" Macbook Pro (now my "desktop"). I've been able to edit and output videos quick for work with such ease and portability, no matter where I am.
The only downside is 1) non-replaceable battery-operated which is good between 4-5 hours (never believe the 10-hour hype) 2) the SD bank card card joker slot (how useless is that for a vid pro?) and 3) the super glossy screen (hard to see in the daytime while distressing to edit an hour-long doc). Otherwise, they are minor cons compared to the pros.
Yes, they are dear, but are worth the money. I paid the extra $$$ for the extra speed (also supplementary the 8gb ram as well as a 500gb 7200rpm drive) but it definitely saves me time when using powerful apps like Photoshop and rendering on Compressor. The quality and reliability of these machines to be sure pays for itself.

Dollars and get
This is an adept computer, but the so called value additions that make this model $300 more expensive than the pattern Macbook Pro 13 are hardly worth it. If you're thinking about buying this version of the 13 inch Macbook Pro, please over taking a look at the standard Apple MacBook Pro MC374LL/A 13.3-Inch Laptop.
The only difference between this $1499 MBP 13 and the $1199 MBP 13 are processor put one's foot down and hard drive space - this MBP 13 has a 2.66ghz processor and 320 gb wearying drive while the standard MBP 13 has a 2.4 ghz processor and 250 gb hard coerce.
So you're paying $300 more (20% of the cost of the $1499 MBP 13 or 25% of the fetch of the standard $1199 MBP 13) and getting only 70 gb more hard drive arrange and a processor faster by 266 mhz (Approximately 10%). Whether that's worth a $300 payment difference over the standard MPB 13 is questionable.
Everything else is IDENTICAL in both MPB 13's - Superdrive, backlit keyboard, multi-enhance trackpad, screen (1280 x 800 resolution Glossy LED backlit filter), iSight camera, Nvidia Geforce 320m integrated graphics, speakers, amount of ram (4gb - gain for multitasking),number of ports(1 Firewire 800 port,2 USB 2.0 ports), SD Be honest slot, wireless capabilities (802.11n specification; 802.11a/b/g compatible, Bluetooth 2.1 and Gigabit Ethernet -10/100/1000). THE SAME EVERYTHING.
The software included is also the same - OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard and the iLife 09 retinue of content creation tools. A 1 year warranty on parts and 90 day blower technical support is also standard on both models
Let's consider a situation where you choose to buy the paradigm MBP 13 instead of this model. You'd save $300.
You could then put it towards purchasing a 500 gb hard initiative (for approximately $80 on Amazon) and install it yourself. That's a bigger hard drive than the one included in this $1499 replica. The installation instructions are included in the MBP 13 manual and it doesn't void the promise. You'll need a Philips #00 screwdriver. Installation videos are also available online.
You'd also have $220 left side with which,(if you decide to) you could buy Applecare or Squaretrade and protect your machine for 2 more years after the first year restricted warranty runs out.
If you're interested in using your money optimally, do consider the touchstone Apple MacBook Pro MC374LL/A 13.3-Inch Laptop It's 99% identical in terms of hardware and proficiency in comparison to this $1499 MBP 13 and is in all aspects, a much better value for money buy.

Appropriate!
I had the unibody MacBook when it was first released in 2008. That one unfortunately got diluted so it needed to be replaced. This has some nice new features, including the audio support through the mini displayport and longer battery-operated life.

Macbook Bag
The bag is laconic with enough padding to protect the macbook. However, the long handles reduces the elegant look.

Incomparable case. Small but plenty of room.
This dispute is really nice. It fits my 13.3" hp laptop perfectly and has plenty of padding. I am competent to fit the charger in the front pouch along with my wireless mouse without it getting too bulky. Overall this instance is lightweight and roomy while keeping the entire package nice and small...definitely what I wanted.

Apple engineers removed the manhood of brominated flame retardants (BFRs) and polyvinyl chloride (PVC) from circuit boards, internal cables, connectors, insulators, adhesives, and more in the MacBook Pro. Because Apple makes both the devices and the software for the MacBook, they're designed to work together to produce a smarter product that uses less energy. For instance, to reduce energy consumption, the hard drive spins down on impulse when inactive. MacBook Air also decides which processor--CPU or GPU--is best suited to efficiently perform a test of strength. The LED-backlit display in the MacBook Pro is another feature that plays an important part in conserving energy, overwhelming 30 percent less power than conventional LCD displays. And the display is designed to dim when you co-sign a darkened room. The MacBook Pro meets the stringent low power requirements set by the EPA, giving it Verve STAR certification. Keep your Windows clique
I purchased my MacBook Pro about a year ago. I also have another laptop which has Windows and Linux installed on it. I am not an Apple fan, and this is the first and only Apple offshoot I have purchased.
The reason I got this machine was the Garageband application. I'm an amateur musician and I wanted to distance my band practices, as well compose new songs. In that respect, it served the purpose. It's also kindly at storing pictures and editing videos.
However, be warned: It takes a while to get used to the Mac OS. It's very assorted than Windows. Second, do not get rid of your Windows machine. You will need it!
This is not a product that once you take it out of the box, everything will work. For happened, I'm from Europe, but MacBook does not play the DVDs from other regions of our global world, something even the cheapest Chinese DVD players can do! (To be more error-free, you need to select a region at the beginning and stick to it). It also keeps giving errors when I try to brown-nose a toy with any copied DVD. There are ways to bypass these kind of issues, such as installing other players, but the options are more restricted compared to Windows. Also, most of my external hard drives do not work with MacBook.
I find Apple more controlling than Windows. It's operating system wants you to do things the way they impecuniousness. Of course, it's more stable, faster, and less vulnerable to viruses, but all that comes with a cost.
Entire, do not expect too much. Keep your Windows (or Linux) machine nearby. It's far from being perfect.

Switched from Windows to Mac, Liking the Compact Pro
I was a windows operator all my life, never used a mac, thought it would be complicated and difficult. My husband has always used mac, and so when I needed a new computer we got a mac because we m from home and it's much easier when we both need to use the same files or programs, it's just more efficient that way.
I had initially got a Macbook Air 13" because we are traveling a lot and wanted a lightweight computer. But after using it for 2 weeks I was so angry and frustrated at it that I wanted to trade it. So we did. It was SO slow. This was brand new and it could not even load youtube videos, even on a fast internet you could not watch over them. It would freeze when having 3 or 4 browsers open, no other programs. Forget using Skype simultaneously while having any other program unclosed, it's going to bogg down the computer. Also you cannot play any games on it because the graphic processor is so slow it's all choppy and is catchy much pointless. Having no CD rom made it impossible to use programs that need the CD to run. Not buying an external CD hustle to travel with, that's ridiculous.
So back to the 13" pro. I really like that I can do everything I need on it. It's much faster than the Air, I can mind youtube, use skype, play games, run word or pages and multiple browsers at the same convenience life. I thought 13" would feel too small for me, like a mini computer. But after going from a 17" animal to a 13" laptop I can tell you that I enjoy having this size as it does not grind me when I'm working on my lap. It gets hot yes, so don't sit it on your lap, but I prop my knees up and it rests on my stomach and legs so it gets air and doesn't over warm up. The sound is not too bad on it either, the Air had speakers that were a joke, so quiet you could not play a movie and hear it. The 13" pro is not too profound either and fits in small backpacks which is great for traveling.
I'm definitely glad I have mine. It makes my husbands 15" strike one like a monster in comparison, it's a lot heavier. So for portability go for the 13" pro.
