Girlfriend MY MACBOOK
I of course LOVE my macbook. It is sleek, and amazing to look at, and even more amazing to use. The touch pad was a bit to get used to, exceptionally since there is so much you can do with it. It seemed a little difficult to remember what each thing does; but once you do its amazing. The keyboard is appease and wonderful for when you have to write long papers, or even short reports. You don't have to worry about profound down too hard either. My favorite little thing though has to be the charger being magnetic. I'm an extremely ox-like person, and my last laptop ended mainly due to my clumsiness. I tripped over the wire so many times and my computer was unendingly crashing into the ground. Due to the macbooks magnetic charger, it simply pops off without disadvantageous it OR your computer. I love it.

Oh my...this is what I've been missing.
I've been a pc consumer for 20+ years and finally decided to make the switch. I'm at week 2 now and not only has my system never crashed, I have found nothing I am not perfectly pleased with. The trackpad is so amazing...touching my pc touchpad feels terrible now, somehow upright flat and unresponsive. Mac is great!

Out-and-out!
I angel my MacBook! The multi-touch trackpad and battery life are AMAZING! This is my first Mac and now I will never go Windows again... Pitiable Bill!

The most laptop I have owned, Windows or Mac
I sanctuary't owned a Mac laptop in 12+ years. (though I have craved one) Finally I found a gear deal on this polycarbonite macbook. The 2 other machines I was looking at were the 15 Dell Studio (fastidious eSata port) and the ASUS ULV models (with 12 hour advertised battery-operated life)

The processor in the Dell was faster at a similar price and the battery biography of the Asus made it appealing. I have no regrets that I chose the Apple product. With VMWare Fusion I have a colossal Windows XP computer. (that resumes and suspends way faster than my VMWare workstation does on my toil PC)

In addition, I loaded Windows 7 with bootcamp. (I have to reboot to get to it) I turned on all visual effects and the playing is impressive.

I found that a remote support tool called "TeamViewer" has a mac version that works large! (shared my screen with my friends to show them the interface) It obviously lowers the flush palette to increase speed.

It is nice that OSX has RDP built in! I remote into my Windows XP desktop almost regularly.
THINGS I LOVE:
1) Windows compatible (even XP, newer Windows machines with XP drivers are getting more and more rare)
2) Mac Unhurt power adapter. My Sony laptop's AC/DC adapters always die right after the warranty expires. They are over $100 to take over from, but the latest macsafe is only $75. I love this because I don't have to reach behind my machine to plug it in and I don't have to brake if it is plugged in before I pick it up. (you can see it on the side) Also my kid tripped over the cord the first day I had it....it simply came unplugged. (gotta intended Apple for this one)
3) The screen is LED backlit and only slightly glossy. (macbook pros have glass on them, very lambent) shiny is good for indoor use, but in the sun you will wish it wasn't glossy at all. This is a happy usual and as always the Apple display is wonderful and bright.
4) Lithium Polymer battery (non-removable) By eliminating the supplement hardware needed to use a removable battery Apple has lighted the load. Using this technology is second to none in harmony in the market. (I don't think any PC laptops have LIPO batteries) The advertised 7 hr battery-operated life is realistic in Windows or OSX if you lower the screen brightness a couple of notches from the top. (the abase you go, the longer the battery life) Many people are upset over the non-removable battery. The really is you can replace it yourself or have Apple do it for $125 or so. It is removable but you have to take of the cover and undo some fasteners. It will also last longer than the Lithium Ion batteries we are second-hand to replacing every 2 years. (Apple says in 5 years it will have 80% of it's original way of life)
5) Nice Nvidia graphics. I was looking for a powerful machine not a netbook or clique without discrete graphics.
6) Chicklet keyboard. Aside from confusion over which modifier key I should (being a sustained time Windows user) the keyboard is a joy. I love the itunes dedicated rival, pause next button setup as well as the volume (that even works in Windows or Linux) and the skilful brightness settings. In the past things like programmable keys on trustworthy machines required locating drivers and a bit of work. Apple makes things lenient with their bootcamp setup.
7) Resale value. At first I wanted to get a netbook. I looked on Cragslist and notices that they were quality very little used. I next determined that anything under 12" wouldn't do. (older Sony machines and ultra portables) I deliberation about picking up some old machines and buying a new battery. Battery life is very important to me and there is no PC comparable to this machine. I spent a little more than a net book or order ultra portable, but I will be talented to sell it later for a good price and it will probably be more reliable than either option.

You can get the aluminum unibody macbook pro if you definitely want that but you will pay more for the same specs. (though it will have Firewire and an SD card slot) I like the looks of the Pro better but I couldn't legitimate the money. Owning an Apple product (whether polycarbonite or aluminum) is a great experience.

Complicated tune-up
Am very gratified with this new MacBook. It's smooth, ergonomic, smart, and very user friendly. Apple knows that many of it's customers are looking to upgrade from an older element and makes the process very painless. My old MacBook, which I got three years ago, was about maxed and nearly worn out from hanker service. It superseded my G4 T-Book, which took over for my old Wall Street, which I had purchased in the modern development 90's after years of dueling with WinTels. This is a million miles beyond the used Mac Lightweight I had in college (which even then ran circles around the newer IBMs of the day).
This unit will run Windows better than a particular machine, and cross-platform everything you need to bridge that gap effortlessly (with the right software like Parallels and a unwavering Windows OS).
For all intents and purposes, this is the MacBook Pro in a different chassis. You lose a couple of ports, rise a larger HD, and sacrifice a larger memory cache; this only goes to 4G. If you're running Pro Tools or Finishing Cut Pro, you'll do better with one of the larger Macs for a lot of reasons. But this will run TurboCAD, the Adobe Suites, Commission, and all the other usual suspects brilliantly for all intents and purposes.
I held back a star because though this is a 64 bit vehicle, Apple won't let it boot in 64 bit kernel mode and take full advantage of the true nature of it's architecture. I consider they need to let the MacBook expand to more base memory - my last one only went to 4G as well - 3 years ago. Most importantly, Apple requests to wake up and seriously consider including touch screens on all their future products, not fair-minded iPhones and iPads. A lot of us are getting spoiled with our smart gadgets, thanks in good part to Apple itself.
In Summary, it's great to see a new Mac under $1000, especially such a powerful little machine as this one. Mac has always been limber years ahead of the pack with both their equipment and software and this unit is no exception. You can counterpart the on-board memory for about $100, which I highly recommend, and spend the rest of the cold hard cash you save here on software, music, and other gadgets.

Unquestionably, really underwhelmed
I bought a MacBook Pro speedily from the Apple store. At first I was impressed by the speed, mostly booting up and shutting down, considering I was used to a PC with Windows Vista. Over together, things started locking up just like on a PC. 7 months old and the mobile is about to die. A friend of mine has a $2600 MacBook Pro that already needed the DVD drive replaced. I sold this thing and got a $300 PC laptop that runs decent as well and just as quickly with Windows 7. Lesson learned: sometimes, more expensive is not outstrip.

I wouldn't elect anything else
This is my 3rd Mac laptop. Every one I've been competent to use for many years with daily long term use. I read all the negative reviews and found most of them to be entirely unfair as it seems like the buyers simply didn't pay attention to what they were buying, made assumptions, then complained it didn't survive up to their expectations. It's ok not to think highly of them, but don't blame them because you didn't look closer at what you purchased. I'm not certain I'd rely strictly on the Amazon description and would look at them on [...] as well just so you be informed what it is before you buy, but it was definitely cheaper to buy here.

These are very sturdy laptops, look sleek and travel well. I sweetheart the backlit keys as I like to use it a lot late at night without the lights on. The aluminum unibody framework is is very chic. and it's a bit smaller in depth than the previous models. The new trackpad is excellent and built in use key features are fantastic. I wouldn't buy anything else.

Toyota Syndrome

My Apple laptop is acceptable but not spectacular. Recently Apple has been behaving like a virus( think Norton). They take over the domestic page uninvited. The Safari web connection is intrusive. The mail system is worthless. All-embracing perhaps slight edge over Windows, but they are beginning to believe their own hype. The system to use windows entry permit is expensive and cumbersome.

Splendid like the F-14's I've worked on, minus problems....
My first intro to Apple was in the most recent 80's. After that, starting in the mid 90's, I stuck faithfully to windows based systems, for all time getting frustrated with constant conflicts with software. In December of last year this frustration culminated with my first laptop acquisition. I'm so pleased it was an Apple. I've had no problems with mine. It has operated flawlessly. I did initially have problems finding things on it. It's such a barely, seamless system, now that I'm accustomed to it, and beautifully designed. My battery charge hasn't lasted more than 4 hours and there aren't many games for Apple computers. Dragon Age Orgins is one I found that I like for my Apple. I believe this is a really great computer and Amazon got it right out to me in one day.

Leave out Hardware and Software
This consider is aimed at anyone who is basically tired of dealing with Windows. I have used Windows in a home milieu since the early 90's and I'm also a professional in the IT field, where I only work with Windows-based PC's on a day after day basis. Windows and mid to higher end PC's definitely have advantages compared to OS X and the lack of connectivity ports Apple implements in their notebooks can become a pain in the butt, but OS X and the Macbook Pro line of notebooks offer something for everyone. However, it is clear to anyone who used Apple hardware that they do make critical products. These notebooks have an incredibly solid build and the screens, while the majority being glassy, are simply fantastic. You will quickly see how much of a higher quality screen is used on the MBP's compared to your mundane monitors and other notebooks. My only gripe with the screen is that I really wish the 13 and 15 inch models supported higher resolutions. At the end of the day, as someone who hated to use trackpads on notebooks in the past - the large, glass trackpad on the Apple notebooks is by far the pre-eminent I have ever used. I really enjoy using the oversized and very smooth multitouch trackpad on these MBP systems.

Reviewing this fallout could go on for days, since 90% of the people who now own a Mac previously used Windows and wanted something many, therefore all of the comparisons between hardware and software would take an immense amount of time. My primary theme I'm common for here is that, with a Mac, you have a much less chance (basically nil) of wasting time and money from unknowingly obtaining rubbish you can pick up from the Internet. The one aspect of OS X I fully admire is that I no longer require antivirus and strong-malware applications running in the background at all times and having to scan for problems every day/week. Even though I'm in the IT lea and know how to keep myself safe on the Internet, there are millions of Windows users who simply don't advised of any better. That isn't their fault, nor is it completely Microsoft's fault that so much malware is out there for the Windows OS's. However, I can guarantee if you use OS X, you will not see any laughable software issues that plague from the Internet, nor will you need to purchase and constantly run AV-based software.*

It isn't unforeseen, but still annoying that so many people can easily get their PC's infected. Then what? Your normal user will ask a knowledgeable confidante or send it to a place like the Geek Squad to repair the system. Your friend may do it for extricate, but computer shops will definitely ask for a nice amount of cash just to remove the malware, virus and/or trojan infection(s). I've been using Mac systems since beforehand 2006 and this is my first review regarding an Apple product. Why? A previous co-employee asked me to adjustment his daughter's laptop yesterday. It was in awful shape, software-wise, and lickety-split became a nightmare to get it running stable. I wasn't able to perform my "normal" form tasks since I didn't have any Windows installation discs on hand or spare impoverished drives formatted for Windows, so the 140+ malware files and trojans that were detected needed to be handled both in riskless mode and normal startups of Windows. Along with cleaning the bloated registry, removing expendable startup programs and installing over 20 various Windows updates, it took me nearing four hours to get her system running in top condition again. Multiple scans, several reboots and a severely infected/unhurried environment from the beginning are what required the amount of time to be taken. And this isn't some freak occurrence. There are line for line thousands, if not millions of people who have Windows systems in similar conditions. My inappropriate? At this time, you will never experience anything remotely close to what Windows users deal with familiar (I mean that as a negative) when using Apple's OS X.

Finally, this review is geared towards anyone who has had all sorts of problems on Windows PC's. You do have alternatives in which you will not endure those issues. Simply put, OS X is an easy-to-use operating system and you would be moving to a safer, more clean computer medium. Just like Windows, there is a large amount of third party support. You will not be missing out on any or much employment-related and entertainment-based software. Some may disagree with me, but practically everything I do on the Windows side is at to use on OS X. Whether it be from Apple itself or from third parties. Perhaps not the same applications from Windows, but there are equivalents that work great. I'm aware that Apple products can have their problems, more so on the devices side at times. But like any computer you use, there can easily be times where parts malfunction. Apple uses third soir hardware just as every PC manufacture does, so don't expect your Mac purchase is 100% fated of hardware problems.

I'm not a fanboy of Apple, Windows or specific PC hardware in general. I am a fanboy of having a outstanding computer experience without having any major issues, though. Windows and PC's are easily capable of that but more habits, work and money may be involved. All have their advantages and disadvantages. Personally, I would rather use Windows for trade-related tasks, gaming and web development. However, I love using my MBP at my home particularly for entertainment and graphic design.

* I'm aware there are several free antivirus and anti-malware applications at to download (I would suggest Microsoft Security Essentials and Malwarebytes for Windows users), but the accomplishment these applications need to either be constantly running in the background and/or ran + updated at least once per week fast becomes an annoyance after you use a Mac system for a period of time. However, I do suggest Mac owners to run some sort of AV protection if your Mac is on a network with Windows PC's. Your Mac can still seize bad files through web browsing, email, etc. but the Mac will not be affected. However, if there are Windows PC's on your network, then those PC's can still acquire those bad files from your Mac system. OS X won't become incapacitated in some form from obtaining files from Windows over a network, but Windows can still be infected from bad files that could land on the Mac OS.

In fact, really underwhelmed
I bought a MacBook Pro in a little while from the Apple store. At first I was impressed by the speed, mostly booting up and shutting down, considering I was used to a PC with Windows Vista. Over patch, things started locking up just like on a PC. 7 months old and the mobile is about to die. A friend of mine has a $2600 MacBook Pro that already needed the DVD drive replaced. I sold this thing and got a $300 PC laptop that runs unbiased as well and just as quickly with Windows 7. Lesson learned: sometimes, more expensive is not raise.

I wouldn't determine anything else
This is my 3rd Mac laptop. Every one I've been proficient to use for many years with daily long term use. I read all the negative reviews and found most of them to be unqualifiedly unfair as it seems like the buyers simply didn't pay attention to what they were buying, made assumptions, then complained it didn't live out up to their expectations. It's ok not to think highly of them, but don't blame them because you didn't look closer at what you purchased. I'm not undeviating I'd rely strictly on the Amazon description and would look at them on [...] as well just so you be informed what it is before you buy, but it was definitely cheaper to buy here.

These are very sturdy laptops, look sleek and travel well. I fervour the backlit keys as I like to use it a lot late at night without the lights on. The aluminum unibody form is is very chic. and it's a bit smaller in depth than the previous models. The new trackpad is excellent and built in aim key features are fantastic. I wouldn't buy anything else.

Toyota Syndrome

My Apple laptop is okay but not spectacular. Recently Apple has been behaving like a virus( think Norton). They take over the home folio uninvited. The Safari web connection is intrusive. The mail system is worthless. Overall perhaps offend edge over Windows, but they are beginning to believe their own hype. The system to use windows documents is valuable and cumbersome.

Pleasing like the F-14's I've worked on, minus problems....
My first intro to Apple was in the recent 80's. After that, starting in the mid 90's, I stuck faithfully to windows based systems, absolutely getting frustrated with constant conflicts with software. In December of last year this frustration culminated with my first laptop secure. I'm so pleased it was an Apple. I've had no problems with mine. It has operated flawlessly. I did initially have problems finding things on it. It's such a only, seamless system, now that I'm accustomed to it, and beautifully designed. My battery charge hasn't lasted more than 4 hours and there aren't many games for Apple computers. Dragon Age Orgins is one I found that I like for my Apple. I make up this is a really great computer and Amazon got it right out to me in one day.

Nonpareil Hardware and Software
This review article is aimed at anyone who is basically tired of dealing with Windows. I have used Windows in a to the heart environment since the early 90's and I'm also a professional in the IT field, where I only work with Windows-based PC's on a routine basis. Windows and mid to higher end PC's definitely have advantages compared to OS X and the lack of connectivity ports Apple implements in their notebooks can become a bur under the saddle, but OS X and the Macbook Pro line of notebooks offer something for everyone. However, it is clear to anyone who used Apple hardware that they do make gigantic products. These notebooks have an incredibly solid build and the screens, while the majority being put-on, are simply fantastic. You will quickly see how much of a higher quality screen is used on the MBP's compared to your customary monitors and other notebooks. My only gripe with the screen is that I really wish the 13 and 15 inch models supported higher resolutions. At long last, as someone who hated to use trackpads on notebooks in the past - the large, glass trackpad on the Apple notebooks is by far the win out over I have ever used. I really enjoy using the oversized and very smooth multitouch trackpad on these MBP systems.

Reviewing this result could go on for days, since 90% of the people who now own a Mac previously used Windows and wanted something new, therefore all of the comparisons between hardware and software would take an immense amount of time. My primary theme I'm thriving for here is that, with a Mac, you have a much less chance (basically nil) of wasting time and money from unknowingly obtaining crap you can pick up from the Internet. The one aspect of OS X I fully admire is that I no longer require antivirus and strong-malware applications running in the background at all times and having to scan for problems every day/week. Even though I'm in the IT green and know how to keep myself safe on the Internet, there are millions of Windows users who simply don't identify any better. That isn't their fault, nor is it completely Microsoft's fault that so much malware is out there for the Windows OS's. However, I can swear to if you use OS X, you will not see any crazy software issues that plague from the Internet, nor will you need to purchase and unendingly run AV-based software.*

It isn't surprising, but still annoying that so many people can easily get their PC's infected. Then what? Your typical user will ask a knowledgeable friend or send it to a place like the Geek Group to repair the system. Your friend may do it for free, but computer shops will definitely ask for a nice amount of cash upright to remove the malware, virus and/or trojan infection(s). I've been using Mac systems since anciently 2006 and this is my first review regarding an Apple product. Why? A previous co-employee asked me to shape his daughter's laptop yesterday. It was in awful shape, software-wise, and rapidly became a nightmare to get it running stable. I wasn't able to perform my "normal" renovation tasks since I didn't have any Windows installation discs on hand or spare unsentimental drives formatted for Windows, so the 140+ malware files and trojans that were detected needed to be handled both in correct mode and normal startups of Windows. Along with cleaning the bloated registry, removing needless startup programs and installing over 20 various Windows updates, it took me precisely four hours to get her system running in top condition again. Multiple scans, several reboots and a severely infected/cloddish environment from the beginning are what required the amount of time to be taken. And this isn't some freak occurrence. There are really thousands, if not millions of people who have Windows systems in similar conditions. My aim? At this time, you will never experience anything remotely close to what Windows users deal with day-to-day (I mean that as a negative) when using Apple's OS X.

Finally, this review is geared towards anyone who has had all sorts of problems on Windows PC's. You do have alternatives in which you will not encounter those issues. Simply put, OS X is an easy-to-use operating system and you would be moving to a safer, more clean computer situation. Just like Windows, there is a large amount of third party support. You will not be missing out on any or much profession-related and entertainment-based software. Some may disagree with me, but practically everything I do on the Windows side is handy to use on OS X. Whether it be from Apple itself or from third parties. Perhaps not the same applications from Windows, but there are equivalents that work great. I'm aware that Apple products can have their problems, more so on the metal goods side at times. But like any computer you use, there can easily be times where parts malfunction. Apple uses third celebration hardware just as every PC manufacture does, so don't expect your Mac purchase is 100% sure of hardware problems.

I'm not a fanboy of Apple, Windows or specific PC hardware in general. I am a fanboy of having a superlative computer experience without having any major issues, though. Windows and PC's are easily capable of that but more continually, work and money may be involved. All have their advantages and disadvantages. Personally, I would rather use Windows for trade-related tasks, gaming and web development. However, I love using my MBP at my home pre-eminently for entertainment and graphic design.

* I'm aware there are several free antivirus and anti-malware applications within reach to download (I would suggest Microsoft Security Essentials and Malwarebytes for Windows users), but the truthfully these applications need to either be constantly running in the background and/or ran + updated at least once per week straight away becomes an annoyance after you use a Mac system for a period of time. However, I do suggest Mac owners to run some sort of AV protection if your Mac is on a network with Windows PC's. Your Mac can still grasp bad files through web browsing, email, etc. but the Mac will not be affected. However, if there are Windows PC's on your network, then those PC's can still acquire those bad files from your Mac system. OS X won't become disabled in some form from obtaining files from Windows over a network, but Windows can still be infected from bad files that could debark on the Mac OS.

One of the outdo notebook computers on the market
It does not judge cheap, and it is very FAST. This is a speedy computer in many ways. I run everything from iWork, iLife, Windows with Parallels, Microsoft Post, Oracle Database, FileMaker, Photoshop, Xcode, Visual Studio, etc. If you want a right computer (by the way, Mac OS X is a Unix operating system), this is the one.

Be on one's guard - Sharp corners, bad hand position ruined this purchase
I absolute it was time to replace my 4 year old Macbook Pro 15" for a snazzy new unibody 15" Macbook Pro.
Regurgitate alot of time at the Apple store checking them out (ultimately a bad environment for this!) before I decided on a new 15" - then ordered it from Amazon.

Of all things I never planning it would be the design of an Apple that would make me return it.

Once i got it home and started using it I noticed that the diminish top front aluminum edges of the keyboard part of the machine where you rest your hands are pretty strident and have no give - feels like a hardened machined car part. It wasnt long before i noticed my turn down palm start to hurt like i was pressing against a dull knife. Full disclosure - i have big hands (not large) so the positioning just didnt work for me, though others may have no problem with it.

In addition I asked my woman to try it just to make sure i wasnt making too much of it. When she went to put her hands down serve the track pad she was lightly stabbed (no blood or anything) on the small corners of the indent where you pocket the lid. Its that sharp!!!

Add to that the glossy screen which REALLY REFLECTS outside lighting/shadows and I new it I couldn't keep it (not for $1800 purchasing price!!!)

Its a real bummer as all the new Apple models except the low end white one have the same issues - Im not a PC guy anymore so Im not solid what I'm going to buy now. Hackintosh anyone???

Finest Money I've Spent in awhile.
I dear one this laptop, it is my first laptop and mac. I was going back and fourth between waiting for the new macbook pro with the new i3,5, or 7 chips or principled buying this one. I got tired of the release date rumors and really needed a laptop so I firm to get this one. I love it! Trackpad is brilliant once you actually figure out all the finger movements. Prodigious Screen display and smooth feeling keyboard. I would recommend to anybody unsound a nice and easy to use laptop.

Apple has done it again
This is my jiffy laptop from apple and I love it.

To be clear, I have the 2.66 15 inch model with an ANTI-Ostentation screen.

Case and Keyboard-

Pros: Apple really did a great job designing this laptop. The swarthy keys are beautiful and match the rest of the laptop. The case looks and even feels giant. The Anti glare screen is the same color as the rest of the laptop (Aluminum) but there is a handsome black trim around it. When closing the laptop magnets keep the screen firmly closed, a extremely nice touch.

Cons: The only really con I can think of is the placement of the USB and Firewire ports. They are all on the same side which becomes very cluttered when having multiple connections. Alone, I constantly have every port used so this is somewhat of a problem. The positives definitely overbalance this small negative.

Anti Glare Screen-

Pros: Does it's job, no thinking and still works great.

Cons: Nothing, its only $50 for the upgrade, do it.

Performance-

Pros: I am a video editor-in-chief and this thing flies whether you are using final cut pro or avid.

Cons: None

Trackpad-

Pros: This trackpad is absolutely fun. Apple really has the best technology when it comes touch surfaces. Expose hallmark works great and the pad is fully customizable with 3rd party software.

Cons: Secure, its great that you can push down anywhere on the pad, but it takes some effort to do this.

Operating System-

Pros: Most agree that Mac OsX is the strongest operating system out there. But if you file to use both, bootcamp works FLAWLESSLY. (other than having your typical windows problems)

Cons: This is undeniable a very subjective area. Some might say the lack of program integration is a negative, but bootcamp solves that. Some might say apple doesn't many programs, but search the web for a couple minutes and you'll find otherwise. So I can unequivocally say the OS has no significant cons.

Customer Service-

Pros: Apple has the best customer marines in the world. As long as you are nice to them they will take care of you. I would highly recommend the 3 year covenant because like anything, things break.

Cons: Very expensive to have things fixed (by apple) without the commitment. You wouldn't drive a car without insurance, just buy the warranty.

Overall: Incredible laptop, impossible performance, you will not be disappointed.

Very worth but not quite great
A bit over priced the examine and keyboard are great Would be better if it had more RAM and it has gotten very slow and I have only used 50GB of the 250GB HD seat. The lap top gets very hot when on your lap and tends to overheat so I as I did I suggest you get an application where you can control the fan speed which helps. Operating system is very kindly.

The New MacBook Design

Intel Core 2 Duo Processor
Experience improved energy efficiency, expanded wireless connectivity, and extraordinary battery life with the 2.0 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor, which has a super-hurried 1066 MHz front-side bus (FSB), and a large 3 MB L2 cache. A giant notebook! It is light and portable, and has a great design. I switched for Windows Vista(AHH) to a MacBook with Snow Leopard (wondrous!).This mac has fantastic graphics, and a wonderful display, do not regret buying this! It s absolutely excellent! It is blazing fast too! I love the mac operating system!

Dropped 4ft onto a marble crush - Aluminum unibody worth the extra $$$
The aluminum run designed for this computer is worth every penny. After 6 months of reliable usage and ownership, my Macbook was dropped on its theme edge onto a marble floor from a kitchen counter height. My Macbook slipped out of a Booq laptop bag that was not decorously zipped when I attempted to sling it over my shoulder. I swear I saw it fall in slow sign....After defibrillating my heart when it stopped at the time of the "crunch", I picked up the computer and restarted it. HALLELEUIA - STILL WORKED! There was adequate cosmetic damage from the drop that makes it unsightly for resale (1/4 inch chipped separate in upper right corner, dent from impact visible at the corner of the separate and the corner of the base). However, I don't intend to sell it, and I will use it until it dies, like my previous 12" Powerbook workhorse.

If you are comparing the aluminum unibody to the whitish polycarbonate macbook- the polycarbonate would've shattered from that same fall. The "dent" reflects the force engaged by the aluminum enclosure. Spend the extra $100 to $200 for piece of chew out vacillating.

My point is, no one expects to have their laptop "drop" onto a hard surface from a 4 foot tallness. Rest assured, the extra $$$ you spend to ensure your computer can survive chance falls, is worth it.

Aluminum unibody over white polycarbonate- this is a no-brainer

4 1/2 Stars- 5 if it had FireWire
It's mine and no it's not for purchasing.
Let me first say that this is the exact same unit Apple is currently selling as the 13" MacBook Pro excepting 3 things: SD Slated reader (yawn), sealed in battery (yuck) and FireWire :).
I bought mine after the update without thought it's lack of FireWire because it has a user changeable battery, which the MacBook Pro lacks.
Excepting the need of FireWire, this is IMHO the best Mac Laptop made & if you can find a new one or lightly used one get it.

One year later - still loving my Macbook
I switched to Mac last January, and now, one year later, I'm still very satisfied. My Macbook 13.3 has run faultlessly, frozen a total of maybe 2 times in an entire year, and perfectly interfaced with unconventional / antique printers, routers, and external hard drives here in China. It runs uncordial and silent. It's sleek and light and makes for easy packing. What really blew my genius was, after 9 months of use, having to ask a friend to google "Ctrl-Alt-Delete" for mac because I needed to jemmy quit a non-responsive program for the FIRST TIME! What a stark contrast with my (also very decent) Thinkpad at exertion.

The experience of buying a laptop from Amazon was great as well. It turned up days antiquated, packaged together with my software purchases, and at a steep discount over the Apple Store.

Fair but functionally disappointing
I barely bought my first Apple, a Macbook Pro (13"). Nice piece of artwork. But I'm shocked by the catastrophic typescript display and apparent lack of adjustment options (yes, seen the font smoothing election but the result's a joke with or without). I've read many posts on how apple's rendering is different from Windows, how absolutely they manage to put so much thought into creating such a poor result, and how people prefer one or the other. But this seems a moment ago plain wrong -- I can't believe that there's so many people out there who, out of pure love for beginning font geometry (or for love of Apple), are willing to sacrifice readability/usability.

There's some other inadequate surprises for someone who switches from Windows:

- no easy window maximise/minimise, maximisation only via unripe button that maximises to the layout Apple considers best (I'd often prefer a different window enormousness, mostly full screen, particularly on 13"). That means you end up using the mouse & moving/shifting windows all the time.

- very inefficient handling of screen real estate. Lots of continuously displayed info / top menu rows etc that you really don't need most of the time and that cut down usable concealment area. Maybe I just haven't found it yet, but I don't see an easy way to switch to full screen.

- harsh front edge on the unibody... that's very uncomfortable after a short while. Somewhere else I read that for Apple, clearly use follows form. That strikes me as spot on now...

- Yes, you can soft-double-tap the large mouse pad, but if you judge to mechanically click it (you can do that anywhere on the pad), the sound of the mechanics is annoyingly loud.

Bottom line: I note mislead by a good amount of (unjustified) enthusiasm of the Apple fans around me. Next time I need to fulfil an esthetic urge, I'll go and buy a new watch instead. Going Apple doesn't seem to be the right answer if you're unhappy with Microsoft.
