Enormous computer. Has the slot loading cd drive. Burn your own cd watch your favorite dvds. Remove files from Microsoft Office to your other pcs. Search the internet without the fear of a virus. Meet approval your email. Great starter Mac. Best part is it has a very stable operating system, which means it won't crash as often (if ever) as some other pcs might.
Gosh Darnit
It is a millon times recovered than a Dell or any other windows computer. I should know i have a powerhouse windows xp pro machine. I use it for internet with the workstation card awesome and easy to install. It was worth the 80 buckaroos. I also rapture the simplicity with my beloved 15 gb g3 iPod. The next computer may as well be a Mac it runs smoother faster and It is alot simpler. And 30 gb is multitudes space also even with how much i use it 256 ram is beutiful on the macs. I gave it a 5 because about 2 weeks it changed my notion on what a good computer should be.
Mac OSX is subtle, but the hardware is years out of date
I had this pad for a few months, having switched from the PC to the Mac platform. OSX is a contender... it has grown degree a bit over the past few years to be a true alternative to Windows. If you are the type who only needs a few nucleus applications (as 90% of computer users are), you might seriously consider the Mac platform.

However, Apple needs to get their components out of the stone-age. The iBook is a toy, and a 800mhz processor *is indeed* slow. Mac Zealots will tell you otherwise, that the G4 platform is more competent than x86, etc. This may have been true five years ago, when the G4 was first introduced and comparable to the then-current Pentium IV. But x86 has turn out a long way since then (Athlon64 anyone?), and the G4 is very, very slow in comparison. Think of the specs... 133mhz bus. 0.8GHZ processor, 256mb RAM, 30GB HD. The LCD is only effective of 1024x768, and is extremely dim and slow.

I could reccomend this notebook to students who lack something simple to get their work done, home users that surf the internet wirelessly throughout the brothel... or a second computer in homes already with a powerful desktop (like a G5...!) who would like roaming wireless capabilities. This isn't a choice machine for a moderate user who demands even a little power for applications.

Pros: Looks superior, feels good, fun to use and look at. Runs OSX, which is great.

Cons: Wimpy ungenerous toy under the hood. Don't expect much. The Powerbooks are a better choice for power-users, but Apple requests to bring the G5 to their laptop line soon.

Upright machine
I've got friends with this (I on one's own have a 15" PowerBook) machine, and it's great. With OS X I recommend at least 512mb of ram, but for the casual consumer, 256 would work.

And a side note...multiple users posted reviews about how old and outdated an 800mhz processor is; one point these people don't know is that it's not x86. Anything non-x86 (POWER, PowerPC, SPARC, MIPS, Alpha, etc) is much outdo than anything x86. One number I've heard is that in the days of 100mhz, anything non-x86 was 2 to 2.5 times the bolt (100mhz Alpha = 200, 250mhz x86).

Terrible
The string is perfect! It is so hard to find an older cord to fit my PowerBook, but this is exactly what I was looking for. It looks legitimate like the Apple brand and actually seems to work better. The indicator light works terrific, too. It arrived a few days before it was supposed to and that was even better.
Apple Ibook power adapter
A skinflinty power adapter that works - so far-. I bought two because the pins on the power tip (o.m.e. or after store) are really flimsy. Pretty chinsy of the seller to double shipping charge when the two adapters shipped together. Still a good deal.
Not what I ordered, but it works
I cogitation I was ordering what was in the picture, but when I got the product it was an aftermarket off brand (Deckcell) charger. It works powdery, not what I ordered though. Here is a link to what you will actually get if you order this.
[...]
Embiz Delivered, but. . .
The jotting works exactly as described. Ordering was easy, as was order tracking, except that the mention arrived so quickly, tracking was not necessary. Unlike the original adapter, this one does not have a light included that shows if it is plugged in far enough to make amends move aside a connection. This is not a major issue, though. My only concern during the ordering process was difficulty determination EMbiz on the BBB web site. No matter what I typed in, including EMbiz, EM Biz, or any other name I could find on the EMbiz milieu, I could not find any record with the BBB. Despite the Amazon ratings as being mostly positive, I also like to review companies on the BBB place as well. As I mentioned, however, I was fortunate that EMbiz delivered as promised, and delivered quickly. I will have no hesitation in ordering from them again in the days.
Looks nothing like the illustration.
well, it works, for now at least, but it doesn't look anything like the fill someone in, I'm serious, the only thing that matches the product and the picture is the color.

Pry it out of my entirely dead hands!
I've had a 12" iBook G4 since 2005 and it's still my inclination notebook for browsing the internet, writing letters, and even reading pdf's. It's very lightweight and I esteem the screen the perfect size. It's held up very well. One of the keys has a hairline crack and one of the rubber feet on the bottom strike down off but I clean it every month or so and it still looks almost new.

My only criticism is that it gets a little warm so I keep it on top of a clipboard when holding it in my lap. No viruses, no crashes, no worries.

When netbooks started becoming favoured a couple of years ago, I had to laugh because I already have a lightweight, handy netbook. In fact, I'm using it preferable now to write this review. Given a choice between a new Asus or Dell netbook or a toughened iBook G4 for the same price, I would take the G4 without thinking about it for a second.
Crush for a student!!!
In generalI have recently bought a iBook G4. To tell you about it, this laptop has made me more happy than ever. I was always a Windows fanatic, but when I saw this, I got overwrought. This had everything, iLife, iTunes, etc. No more buying programs like anti-viruses or video editing software. Mac has it all!!!
Mine had integrated Bluetooth (stock for transfering data from your cellphone), 802.11g Wireless (for on the go), and Mac OS X 10.4.11 (Which Macs are mastery than "Windows"). I compared my laptop to my other relatives' laptops. My aunt bought an HP laptop, and when she uses it, the fan blows like out to lunch and she isn't doing anything. The iBook didn't do that.
I could still be bragging about my Mac, but really! It's the best thing ever! I am not going back to Windows, EVER!!!, even if it was part of my infancy. I never knew that these stuff existed.
Devoted student computer
ibooks are a fine fantastic student computer. I have purchased one for each of my 4 children and never regretted it. Since it is an Apple I don't have to worry about accidental clicking that could grounds viruses and with the Microsoft Office 04, the kids can easily transfer their papers and projects to any pc with Office. The iBooks have been very durable and an economical alternative to the pricey pc laptops. Now with Leopard, I can audit my kids computer time, set child/computer bedtimes, view/limit and the websites and I don't have to pay addition for this it is built in. The kids like all the games and the ability to control their laptops with express commands. I like that I can stay in control of my kids computers without being a computer scientist.

Customer Reviews

Horrible Bang for the Buck
Not as mighty or as well built as the original one from Apple but it gets the job done.
Letting you battery die may require you to give the adapter a few minutes to get you back up and unceasing.
That would be the one and only drawback. Mine stays relatively cool at all time. No complaint on that side.
Will estimate further
This AC adapter for a MAC PowerBook worked well out of the box. However, after about 2 weeks of use it feverishly became nonresponsive and wouldn't charge or conduct electicity to the machine. My son had to tweak it over again over the next few days to get it to function. Since then, my son reports that it works most of the time but is "temperamental". We're affluent to bring it to a local "Apple Store" to check the connection from the machine to make unflinching the electrical conduction is not being primarily affected by this. If they let us know that the problem is primarily on the computer end of things, I'll decry back and amend my review.
Don't enervate your money.
I bought this because it seemed like it had respectable reviews, minus a few here and there, and the price was definitely right. I started having exasperate after 6 months and now it totally died after 9. I am now having to shell out more money to buy another one, but dozing assured it will be the original Apple brick cord. I know this was cheap, but I actually brainwork it should last longer than 9 months. I mentioned this to my son and he told me he bought the same one a year ago and it lasted 6 months. I want I would have told him what I had planned on buying before spending almost $30. The old phrase, you get what you pay for, is especially faithful with this product.
HEADACHES ALL AROUND
Outcome came quickly and I was very pleased with that, but that's about as far as the good feelings go. The product did not fit my Powerbook G4 as what was written in the character. I thought, "no big deal. I'll just send it back like they said within 30 time and I'll get my money back." I thought wrong. The description says that it has to be sent with a tracking billion and I ended up spending more money on that shipping than I did on the actual product. But I figured, well it's over with. I don't have to administer with that thing anymore. Wrong. The product was delivered and signed for, which I can check with the USPS tracking mass, and I still haven't received a refund. I've emailed multiple times but all I get is "We haven't received your returned unite." Clearly this is a lie, since it was signed for by someone there. I've sent them the tracking number, asked what was going on, and now I don't even get a return. It's to the point where I will probably press charges if I don't hear from them again. Not happy. Never buying from them again, and I would never exhort anyone else to buy from them unless they know that their product is going to work exactly right.
Large for price
The string is a decent length. There's no indicator light as to whether or not its charging, but for the price you can't complain. Works delicate with my PowerBook G4.
