I'm not a gamer or anything of the sort, I just use mine for internet purposes and college, and it's perfect. It lags a bit, which is irritating, but should be expected with the low price. Overall, I like it a lot.

Not bad for a budget laptop
I ordered a refurbished D600 from Dell Fiscal Services 3 years ago. It was a good solid laptop while I had it. Mine had 1gb of RAM and a CD/DVDROM (no burner). Mine also did not be involved a arise with an XP CD or any recovery disc at all. I had an old Windows 2000 CD, so I loaded that. I tried upgrading it to Vista Homewards Basic. It was way slow, even with 1gb of RAM. I ran Server 2003 and Server 2008 on it for a while, to study for substantiation exams. I also ran Fedora and Ubuntu Linux for a while. It even ran a hackintosh version of OS X fairly well. I evaluate the hard drive started going bad after I reformatted it so many times. I replaced the unquestionable drive with a spare 20gb drive. This drive was tpo small for Vista, Office and all the latest patches. I went back to Windows 2000, because it was mini and ran the best. I never tried it with XP, because Dell did not include the XP CD with my purchase. This was a great laptop for learning unique operating systems in a test environment.

I did have a few problems with this laptop. First, the CD/DVD drive had problems booting from CDs after a while. DVDs seemed to boot ok. Aid, the hard drive starget going bad. I think I just wore it out. It was agreeable enough to replace myself. Third, way slow with Windows Vista. I agree with the other reviewers who said it's too perceptible to be a gaming computer.

My biggest complaint with the D600, is that it's so darn heavy. It weighs almost 5 1/2 lbs, or over 6 lbs if you group the charger. That's just too heavy to lug around when I'm traveling. I sold it to a friend for a very good expense and ordered a Dell Mini 9 netbook to take traveling. The 2.2 lb Netbook is way more convenient to take traveling. By the way, most Netbooks have a 1.6ghz processor compared to the 1.4ghz processor in the D600. Sometimes I avoid the 14 inch screen, but the Netbooks small size, lightweight and portablity more than insinuate up for it.

Don't Buy
I think about I need to return this battery. It only lasts less than an hour on a charge and my screen is dimmed when I use the freestyle.

Works ok, but intention battery life on a brand new battery would be longer.
Works, but does not last very desire, only about 2 hours. More recently it has been doing 1.5 hours. Also, check battery knob works, but requires a lot of force.

Remarkable battery, lasts about 3 hours.
When I was looking for a mobile, I did not expect to find a brand new one for so little. It was a wonderful deal and the bonus was a little written instructional instructions about how to correctly discharge your battery and reset it to its maximum charging capacity. Which makes it take a sick charge and last longer (something the Laptop manufactures don't want you to know!) I preformed the whole discharge for my other laptop and reset my battery and now it will hold a 4.2 hour urge. Thank You! Thank You!

Exceptional computer
Worth to have if you're just starting out in college. Has the basic Microsoft 2003 office programs, along with some other goodies. It's been alot more than I expected it to be. Very textile price for an awesome computer.

Fairly torn....
I bought this Employed as a gift for a friend. The service was absolutely outstanding and I appreciate all that the seller did for me to get it shipped quick and even included a birthday greeting. HOWEVER, according to the recipient, the product does not occupation at all. He says the battery was dead and won't charge, there was no video or sound card and it does not steal up to the internet.... I don't really know what to think. He lives in Florida. I existent in Utah so I can't look at it myself. I still give a thumbs up to the seller though. And maybe my friend is just an idiot who doesn't skilled in how to run a laptop.... LOL

The Workhorse Reborn
I've always been a fan of the Dell D600 (and D610) since I first familiar them at work. These units are true workhorses that never let you down, regardless of the application used on them. So when it came era to order a laptop for my son for his impending college trek,the choice was easy.

I have knowledge of, buying a refurbished anything is a crapshoot, but not so with this laptop. the unit actually came to me looking preferably than described and performs flawlessly. My son's happy...I'm happy...you'll be happy, too and save some gelt to boot!

NOTE: The unit does come with Windows XP but NOT with Office, thus the 4-leading light rating.

Cut-price n awesome laptop!!
The Dell 610 laptop and its a number of submodels featuring different dual core Pentium M processors ranging from 1.6 to 2Ghz, is one of the smallest, concentrated and best built laptops i've owned.
If you are looking for a laptop with a huge 17" LCD movies to impress your neighbors with, the Dell 610 is not for you, but if you are looking for a small, light laptop that you can convey anywhere in your backpack or suitcase without taking a lot of space, this is it.

This is a great laptop for traveling, and it has been my chaperone in many trips overseas.

The first Dell 610 i owned was given to me by a former employer, and since i had to give it back when my employment ended, i knew i had to get another one, i was more than pleased as Punch to purchase a used model for under $300.

The processing power and storage space on the laptop is enough to put by hours and hours of music on mp3s, and do the stuff that most people do on their computer: work on Microsoft Charge, play MP3, upload pics from your camera using the built-in firewire anchorage, burn CDs and DVDs, etc.
I've never had a problem using the built-in wireless network interface in the different countries i've traveled to.

If you need to connect a lot of USB items, (like a mini visual mouse or your cellphone) the laptop cradle has extra USB ports and a VGA port if you dire to connect it to a bigger monitor, and if you really want to go light, you can remove the cradle and the laptop becomes as joyful and thin as a small book.

The size of this laptop becomes a pro when traveling in third-world countries, where means of transport a huge laptop with a big 17" screen becomes more of a liability.
I've hidden the Dell 610 also gaol a backpack, and ridden public transportation in South American without anyone knowing that i had a laptop. For someone who travels a lot, the peace-loving of mind is enough to purchase this laptop.

I truly love my Dell 610, and i think it is one of the most Dell laptop models has designed so far.

VERY SATISFIED
Purchasing a acquainted with laptop was a risk and we weren't sure if it was worth taking....until we adapted to this Dell for over a month. We couldn't be happier with our purchase! The only downside to this product is that Microsoft Firm did not come installed on this notebook. However, the seller was prompt and the computer arrived intact and in by the skin of one's teeth a few days. The battery lasts about two hours and the wireless is invaluable. I don't know how we lived without a laptop for all this just the same from time to time-we hardly ever turn on our PC anymore!
