An Fabulous Tiny Notebook, Once You Understand Its Purpose
The Fujitsu U810 is a misunderstood gizmo. Some here are stating it is a glorified PDA while others think it is a terrible desktop replacement. This little guy is neither. What the Fujitsu Non-Standard real does is provide a full scale computing experience in a package that is less than half the immensity of current netbooks on the market. If you need a portable computer that you can take anywhere without weighing you down then this is for you, if you want a immense screen with the ability to play the latest games look elsewhere.
*** Positive Points Subsume: ***
- Extremely compact size that weighs about a pound and a half. This makes the other netbooks on the store look like ordinary laptops.
- Converts to tablet pc mode so you can use its close to screen to take notes instead of typing. The touchscreen alone makes the computing knowledge completely different than all the other netbooks on the market.
- Unlike other UMPCs the Fujitsu runs either Windows Vista Steep or Business edition. That means it has a real OS and not a linux spin off. Once you update Vista with all of the serving packs and other updates it runs very smoothly considering it is only a 800mhz processor.
- Readyboost in Windows Vista actually speeds up the OS so that you cannot tell it is sub 1ghz processor running a full blown OS! Without readyboost the computer works subtle but the difference is pretty substantial so you should invest in at least a 4gb flash drive to use for Readyboost.
- Well laid out mouse regarding stick and buttons. They are different than what most people are used to and require a learning curve but once you get employed to them they are easy to use.
- Screen is a 5.6 inch high gloss display that provides enough inflexibility to prevent you from squinting. It may not work for older people with vision problems but most populace under 50 will do just fine.
- Battery life is between 4-6 hours... really amazing to have a machine last as long as most domestic flights!
- Built in Bluetooth works well and allows me to strap to an external mouse and keyboard while at home.
- VGA output dongle works well to unite to an external monitor. I have tried it on a 19 inch LCD display and it works well.
*** Dissenting Points Include: ***
- 40 GB hard drive gets cut down to 13 Gb once you install all of the putting into play packs and updates in Windows Vista. You can make up for this by buying a 16GB SD card for storage.
- Keyboard does not earmark for fast, error free typing. It is simply too small though it is bearable. For rest-home use you may want to invest in a full size bluetooth keyboard to go along with this computer. For travel needs the built in keyboard is supportable.
- Only one USB port. This is a real downer for anyone hoping to connect to mulitple peripherals. A USB hub is the only access.
- Windows Vista can take over a full day to install all of the updates and service packs. This is an almost unbearable prepare but the end result is a system that performs very well so it is worth the wait. Most of the complaints about Vista being slow are due to populace not downloading the latest updates and service packs so this is a must if you want to use this computer.
- Ethernet and VGA create for external monitors is accomplished by the included dongle which attaches to the front of the computer. This is a pretty unconventional position.
- No real innovation on the power supply, it is a small brick with 2 long cords, one contemporary to the outlet and the other to the laptop.
OVERALL: This is probably the smallest and lightest tablet PC game Windows Vista. If you need an ultra portable PC and don't mind the puny keyboard this is in all probability the king of all micro pc's. If you want a desktop like experience stick with a habitual laptop but anyone seeking a true portable machine will not be dissapointed. Just settle sure to update Vista and use Readyboost before doing any serious work!

A Gracious travel buddy that fit in my jacket
I like this UMPC. it is mundane, extremely light weight and have all the features that I wanted: webcam, bluetooth, wifi, SD fated reader, convertible tablet.
It is a full functional PC. Yes, the screen is small and hard to decipher. The boot up speed is a pain. The CPU power is a drag. The trick is keep the PC standby at all all at once, and use the High performance setting.
I used MSN video chat has no problem after using "Squiffed performance". The finger print reader is a nice feature when I login website but not so much for login the PC. I could pattern faster than the reader pops up.
The bottom line is: It is a hybrid between phone and laptop. Can't get as brief as laptop but can't get as light as phone. It takes times to get used to this. It is a good journeys buddy, it is light and everything I need. Good for check email, video call, get online to get fast access. Don't use it more than 1 hr, my finger actually hurt afterward. it has a very nice handwriting input when it is in scratch pad mode. You don't have to type. The screen is a bit hard. Tap the screen harder than your phone.
If you lack to see this thing in action, go to CNet and search for U810 or U820.

Darling it
I bought mine several months ago. I still like it very much.
Vista Adept in is just too slow during start-up and program launch. Wished I spent a skimpy more to get Vista Business so that I can downgrade it to Win XP tablet. It doesn't matter anymore anyways, I switched to Ubuntu 8.10 and have been indubitably happy with it.
The screen is crisp, but probably not too small for long use.

Fervour At First Byte
I affection my mini laptop. I can pull over to the side of the road and receive emails in an instant (with my wi-fi index card). It is easier to type on than my Blackberry but not big enough to use as my sole computer. This is a great buy, reliable and quick. I'd buy one for each fellow of my family, if I could afford it.

Okay - I knew it wouldn't employment when i bought it, but was hoping to be surprized. I was... worse than i thought. My ASUS will not fit on this reaction at all, and the spring thing is not strong enough to hold it up. No way, maybe a iphone or a ipod, but not a netbook

Misleading
This is not customized for a netbook. It is jast a plank with velcro that needs to be attached to your device and the stand. I went into it know I may cry over repentance the purchase and I did upon opening the box. The parts are all just friction fitted and I fear a 3.5 lb logo may not stay there long when g forces are applied. I am really not sure if I will even try to use it considering I am entrusting it to my new $350 some what light device.

Customer Reviews
This works very well if you use it sensibly.
I bought this mount in peeve of some negative reviews and this time I'm glad I ignored the bad reviews. This thing works countless in my S10 Blazer. The mount is amply constructed and the flexible part is firm enough for my mini-pad. BTW, a mini-notebook is between a laptop and a netbook in size so I can vouch for the fact that it works with that extent computer. I'm using a Toshiba NB305 if anyone wants to look up the specs. like pressure and dimensions. Anything similar to that or smaller should work fine.
I do need to point out that this mount is a respected starting point for mounting a computer but you may need to mod your rig a little. That's fine with me and I expected to neediness to do that. The modifications turned out to be very minor. It comes with a flat mounting plate that's about 5x5" L/W and about an inch thick, with springs up the river to provide some shock absorption. The springs could be a little firmer for this size computer. I didn't give the single strip of Velcro supplied with the unit and before I ever attached the computer to the mount I put more Velcro on both. I honourable marked out the size of the mount lightly in pencil on the bottom of the computer, then found places where 1x1" squares of Velcro won't balk vents, access panels, etc. and put Velcro there, peeled off the other side of the adhesive and pressed the mounting cut firmly against the Velcro attached to the computer and voila, nice solid connection that doesn't bungle up my computer. My computer has a "bump" that runs the rear width of the machine which is the battery so I put the long belt that comes with the mount in front of and up the side of that a little bit so the "bump" from the battery keeps it from sliding declining when it's mounted in the vehicle.
I don't see any reason why anyone with a computer similar in weight to mine would really have any serious problem with this mount. I do see where if you had something a lot heavier like a full sized pad/laptop you could have problems and this probably isn't the best choice in mounts. I'd say my computer is about maximum in engage to have a good experience with this mount so 'heads up' on that. Compare the physical specs on your computer and the Toshiba NB305 before you non-alphabetical this mount and give it a bad review because you exceeded it's capabilities.
There's a huge price jump from this mount to the next area up that will support a full blown laptop so it's worth looking into this one. I did a lot of shopping online before ordering this and it's well over $100 for a full place mount.
I really like the fact that the mounting plate detaches from the mounting CEO and I can stow the plate and fold the mount completely out of the way when not in use and/or I have a passenger in the front seat. I didn't use the buttocks bolt feature because I wanted the computer higher than that would allow and the included hardware worked solely fine to attach to the really thick, tough plastic that my center console is constructed of. I unprejudiced used some sheet rock screws and a power screwdriver to mount the triangular armaments plate that's the alternative included. Even with sheet rock screws, I had to really crush hard to get them to bite and run in and they're very tight and secure. If you do this remember you're actually creating a drift in the plastic so be careful not to strip it by over tightening. That goes for anything though, it's easy to strip metal threads and the twist head slots with a power driver anyway.
There is absolutely no reason why anyone with very modest mechanistic abilities couldn't get this to work very well with the above provisos.
The suspension in my S10 Blazer is pretty harsh, it's an older model that still has a real truck frame so it's a truck, not a car and this is to be expected. So the computer moves unequivocally a bit while driving due to the springs/shock absorbing feature of the mount. This computer has the feature that stops and mane the hard drive briefly when enough motion/g-force is detected (it has an accelerometer for that) and I have my whole music store on the machine which plugs into the AUX jack on my car stereo. The hard drive protection very hardly ever kicks in and interrupts the music and I'm telling you this so you can get some idea about the application of this mount. It beats the heck out of vehicle around about a million CD's too.
I use the machine for my business, I provide computer services to the SMB market. I don't have 3G wireless internet, it's too extravagant for what I'd need it for so if I get a call while in my vehicle, or I need maps or internet (I already have a TomTom GPS, which I also like a lot) I a moment ago pull into the nearest WiFi hotspot like a StarBucks, one of my clients, etc. parking lot and go to employment. As far as 3G goes, I can't use it while I'm driving anyway. From that point I can remote into client systems and do what needs to be done. It saves me a lot of heretofore and my clients are very happy to get support that fast.
So all in all I'd say this is a very good buy if you're using it for something it's capable of handling and if you cement it correctly. Although the product photo shows a portable DVD player, which is very light, the kidney specifically states a couple of computers that you could look up the specs on to see how yours compares. I did that, mine is a whisker bigger than those so I took a chance and I'm glad I did. Like I said, you'll be unhappy with it if you go with a bigger computer so be advised.
I'd put some photo's in here to show how I set this up but I've never figured out how to do that. I don't see any rudder to upload photos, that could be due to my ad blocking software, it might be stripping that control out, but it says nothing is closed on this page. Mostly I just don't have time and inclination to dink with it but if someone cares to leave something in comments I'll see what I can do to domestics people with photos.

Works as expected
This spin-off worked for me exactly how I expected. Was installed in 5 minutes. Feel like I got my boodle's worth. I included pics of it installed in my Dodge Charger. If you're looking for a immovable mount that won't budge when you corner hard, then you might want to go ahead and spend the $100 addition that it will cost for a vehicle & device specific mount. For my $30, and my needs, this mount is exactly fine. Almost perfect

Comprehensive Junk
This output cannot be stabilized as a platform for a netbook even if you are mechanically minded and able to make modifications to a fancy to get it to work. It would be easier to prop your netbook up on the passenger seat so the screen is clear. It would be no less distant from your driving line of sight. Issues: after bolting the gooseneck to a stool bolt as instructed and bending it so it contacts the seat for added stability, it's distinct this will be insufficient to truly stabilize the attached plate intended to support your netbook once the mechanism is in motion. The fix would be additional bracing; perhaps strapping. The hand-turn screw intended to catch the rotation of the shaft to the netbook attachment-plate is not strong enough, turned by closely, to permanently do its job. Your netbook will either rotate immediately or eventually. Fixing this would require paste strong enough to prevent rotation. The "quick release" plate (which leaves the gooseneck in squelch) is spring mounted to a backing plate assumedly to lesson shock to your netbook. Perhaps this does something, but will do nothing for lateral forces along the sheet's plane, vertical or horizontal. In short you will need to construct a custom netbook ratify cannibalizing some, none or all of this product's materials. You might as well start from scratch and skip this expense.

Fair doesn't work
Take a look at the photo shown of the goods. It shows a dvd player sitting on it with a bend in the neck. Within 1 mile of driving the car it would be on the floormat.
I installed this attitude to use a netbook with mapping software. The first thing I notice is that every little bump causes it to corner a little more. Then I notice that the joint at the bottom (that you cannot adjust) is loose enough to let it move when hitting bumps or stopping wildly. I did manage to get it to sit still by wedging it up against the seat, but that is just temporary because it will work its way loose again. (and yes, it is mounted duly.
I have no idea how people are getting this thing to sit up and giving this 5 stars. It is honestly the main piece of junk I bought in a long time. The only good thing is I can retrieve it to use as a clipboard holder since a 1-ounce clipboard doesn't seem to strain it too badly.
Good spend a little more and buy a higher quality mount. You are going to be driving with this feature in your car and you don't need the distraction of dealing with it causing you to wreck.

Extreme holder for a Netbook in the car
I chose to use my Acer Net-rules as a GPS and Internet mobile platform. This mount does a great job of holding the Net-order stable in conjunction with Velcro. I highly recommend this mount as a low cost revelation for mobile in-car usage.
