Be thorough of this model---and purchasing computers from Amazon!
I purchased this copy after debating over another model that I had purchased for my son. The very first day it displayed a "No Operating System found" message on a black sort out. My husband told me to immediately return it. I gave it some time thinking it was a lucky. NOPE---tonight it began making a loud noise---then a blue erroneously screen quickly disappeared to a black screen "No operating system found" message. I contacted SONY and was told this was poverty-stricken-drive and they could not help me over the phone. It was suggested that I return the model for a new one. WELL---today is ONE DAY TOO Unpunctually to return to AMAZON. Could I be any luckier? I would advise you to carefully examine the RETURN Protocol to AMAZON. After reading this tonight--I am thinking that I made a costly mistake to purchase a computer from Amazon and this archetype might have been a mistake as well.

Sony has been a biting experience
After a twosome of months of use, the laptop keeps switching off randomly after using it for 10 to 15 minutes. I see on the internet that many other Sony laptops have the same problem, but no one can figure out how to fix it. Not even Sony tech support staff!
So far, my Sony laptop has been a big disappointment!

Gratifyingly computer
I like this scale model, look and feel. Especially Windows 7 experience is amazing. Sony VAIO updates are knee-jerk.
Only drawback is bluetooth. I don't use bluetooth much so I am happy with what it is.

Posh product
This is the next Vaio I have purchased, the first was for myself and the second for my son at college. Having had mine there was really no doubt, the laptop is well made and chic, easy to use and basically a quality product. Only negative is battery life which is unquestionably not as good as some of the competition.

Not Benefit the Aggravation
I would not buy this laptop again. Those who are hot air about it are the lucky ones. OK let's start with my list of problems. 60 days after my buy, my hard drive died. All of my data gone. I had the hard drive replaced and was back in traffic after being down for a week. This machine never left my bedroom so it wasn't abused in any way. Next the mouse pad sinistral key died. So I had to buy an external mouse. OK, not the end of the world but annoying. Next, the DVD drive stopped working. It would not review DVDs at all. I called support and they said to perform a system restore. Three hours later I was back and meet. Three weeks later, the DVD drive died again. Another system restore. I asked them to send me a new herd but they Sony support said it was a software issue and the ONLY way to fix it was a system restore. They also recommended that I go out and buy an external urgency. NICE! So as of now I have no DVD drive on this machine unless I want to keep doing a system restore every week or so. Next, the battery-operated died. Without AC connected it lasts 10 minutes. This battery lasted about 3 months and I would every now let it drain and charge it which is recommended for long battery life. This is really second-rate. I really expected Sony to step up to the plate but they refused. As an IT professional, I've used a spin out of laptops over the years, HP, IBM, COMPAQ, Dell, and this is the absolute worst. You definitely get what you pay for.

Most Excluding
I'm 41 and have been through every start of notebook computers, esp. vaio, asus, toshiba, and dell. This is a great computer, and I can't believe the expense. I bought it for my wife who is opening a small business. She wanted to go mac but I said no way, as the spot on total cost of ownership for a mac is so much higher than the pc. Plus, windows 7 levels the playing possibilities. I've had the beta installed since this past summer and it is fast, stable, runs all apps that I have, and is tremendous for gaming. So I'll leave it in her own words as to her experience thus far. Here is the note my wife left side me when I came down for coffee this morning in MS word (I went to bed early):
"I am practicing typing lots of words at one notwithstanding. This keyboard ROCKS the party! It's so much bigger than my eeepc. Iam not used to having a keyboard that is so informal to type on. And the mouse isn't jumping around everywhere which usually drives me CRAZY!! This raised keyboard is at the end of the day nice. The buttons are comfortable to push and very responsive.
I can't believe how big and beautiful the wall is. I'm not used to it!! I can actually see more than one quarter of a page. In fact, I can see half the bellhop and I'm sure I could even change the zoom and see more comfortably.
I noticed the mouse pad has a scroll selection on the right side. That is nice. I have never had a computer that was this big! I think I could get used to it...THANK YOU BRY!! WHAT A WONDERFUL To which he replied!! I LOVE YOU!!"

Fair Value for the $$
We customarily purchase the business line of Sony laptops so this was the first retail model we have bought in many years, so far no complaints, it is rather fast, well as fast as it can be with Windows 7 anyway. Definately like this model for home use and lay out work, end user is a graphic designer.

Flinch from where USB port and DVD drive are located
My new PC here yesterday. While it is a laptop, it will be used in my office, meaning it will be hooked up to a printer and alien drive and other peripherals. This Sony replaces a Toshiba that I was very happy with, but it was over 5 years old, and the new PC has a lot to offer (more RAM, more disc, ameliorate graphics card). However, I can only give it 4 stars because the 3 USB ports are all on the right side, at the front. This means that my mouse (yes, I espouse to use one rather than the touch pad, and I'm right-handed) has to navigate around the printer and other wires. I almost have to unplug everything to encumber a CD/DVD - the wires are in the way. If the DVD drive and the USB ports had been switched, I would be a very happy camper. Now I have to decide if this is something I can function with... My Toshiba had the CD drive open toward me - very convenient, and the plugs (power and USB) were all in the back - marvellously out of my way. The next time I buy a PC, I'll make a point to go see it in person. Sure, the pictures showed me where the ports were, but it's very many when you have the machine sitting in front of you.

Fortunate I got Sony for a change
I have three Dells, one MacBook and one Acer. I would say among them I liked Sony because of below
Pros:
Credible specs for a mid-grade notebook
Comforable & quiet keyboard
HDMI crop
Aesthetically pleasing
Upward facing speakers
nice finger tip mouse pad
frizzled resolution
Cons:
USB on right side I was using wired mouse and because of the USB connection and mouse it was very uncomfortable until I got the wireless mouse with trifling SB connection.
Fan comes on intermittently every 4-5 mins its noisy and gets beautiful hot on the left side of the laptop.
Heavy (6.9 pounds)
Low battery life (~2.5hrs on endurable usage)
Modem connection: who uses it now? could have used that space for something else like very USB or firewire or for external SATA.

Established price for a good product
I was looking for many kindling until I decided to buy the Sony Vaio Netbook.
As Advantages I can mention the fashionable design with excellent aspect (the higher Video resolution of the market for those kind of machines), Long memoirs battery, 250GB Hard Drive (the biggest of the market at this price).
It's utterly recommended to upgrade the RAM Memory from 1 to 2GB by buying a 2GB 256Mx64PC2-5300 DDR2 200-Pin SODIMM Celebration, and a Memory stick in order to be able to use the ReadyBoost Memory (option anly approved though Windows 7). Taking this actions you are able to have up to 3GB RAM memory, which allowed you to exertion with two or three heavy applications at the same time without delays.
Regarding the RAM memory upgrade I must say that it's not easy as pie to do it by yourself, but after watching at a video in youtube for this specific model, this activity becomes relatively steady.
As disadvantages I have to definitely mention the small keyboard. It's in some way uncomfortable to type on those bantam keys.
So, as conclusion, I continuos thinking the Vaio 121 is one of the best netbooks choice in the market for the price you can find in Amazon.

Consolidated, RESPONSIVE, AND STYLISH
This is the newest exemplar (W211AX) of Sony's Netbooks and has a extended battery life. While others may complain of the battery- I like the really that it elevates the netbook up towards you. Depending on the surfing you do- you may have a bit less battery life than advertised. I ordered the rose-pink Vaio and couldn't be more pleased. It was everything I expected it to be and then some. The Track pad is reasonably sized and much larger than most. The motion pictures clarity is amazing. My only complaint is where the speakers are situated for the volume. I simply resolved this culmination on my own and use my ipod head phones when listening to sound. To the lower right of paravent you may also adjust zoom level. Your options are 100, 125, and 150. If you do increase the zoom stage straight- You do loose a bit of viewing and must scroll from side to side. The keyboard buttons are a bit elevated and makes it easier for typing. The only other ruin that I could say would be that the netbook only comes with Windows 7 Starter. With this program starter version you are impotent to change desktop background. Bummer... I love that I can install my SD possible and download my photos too. Perfect for web surfing, downloading pics, typing, emails, etc.
Surprising LITTLE NETBOOK!!!!!!!!
SONY CONTINUES TO IMPROVE THEIR APPEARANCE, MODELS INTERIOR, AND Withstand BY THE SONY NAME WITH EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!!!!!!

Caveat Emptor
Horrendous design and sleek look--until you install the battery. Sure, this high condition battery provides 7 hours, but it kills the style. Also, the cooling fan is quite clamorous, and pretty much forces one to use headphones to listen to any audio. I'm sending mine back and looking for another result.

Fully Filled up Laptop
I bought this laptop to renew a 3 year-old Toshiba Satellite U-205. I did a lot of product research before settling on this one, and I must note that I strongly premeditated buying an apple but found its features lacking.
Great Features Include:
Very substantial processor(not the fastest for laptops, but not far off)
Excellent graphics card(doesn't get much richer reconsider in a laptop)
Blu-Ray Player!(full hd movies wherever you want to watch them without taking up massive amounts of tough drive space)
16.4 inch screen and some nice built in speakers do Blu-Ray pictures justice.
HDMI out!(it could not be any easier to hook up to your HDTV, dual monitor reinforce makes computing much more fun)
Great battery life(you can actually use it for a few hours before you call to plug-in, seriously.)
Stylish design.(Mat-black top with shiny VAIO symbol, attractive screen, keyboard, even the power button looks nice)
Good figure quality.(might not be an aluminum uni-body, but it's no piece of junk, very sturdy)
The price is accurate.
Downside:
HDMI out and a Blu-ray drive do not necessarily mean that you'll be able to use it as a blu-ray player for your big sift. Although the HDMI out enables very convenient use of your HDTV as a primary or second monitor, I've seasoned issues trying to play blu-ray on the big screen. I'm not sure if it's because of Windows, WinDVD software, or wholly the hardware not being powerful enough. This is the one and only let-down I've experienced with an otherwise great computer.

Stripling problems, nice computer
Well, after a week using this computer, I have a few considerations for those wishing to get one:
Bad points
* Sift : Although very nice the 16" screens suffers from reflection, its a pain to get a good take in position, bright environments makes it almost impossible
* Battery: The worst I ever had: Lasts less than 90 minutes with shining dimmed
* Keyboard: Really, really bad. the individual keys makes a lot of cacophony, and its somehow hard to press them, not as good as Macbooks
* Software: Every single software installed from Sony are disintegrated (Vaio update, crashes all the time)
* Temperature: The place you are supposed to rest your fairly hand, next to the stickers is really hot (maybe HD is beneath it)
Good points:
* Clear card is really nice
* Sound: Good sound speakers
* Aspect: Its a Vaio no need to go further, very nice, beautiful piece of hardware
* Silent: Really absolutely, really nice to use

Horrific Assignment from Sony -- **LEMON**
I purchased this on 9/2/09 and received it from Amazon on 9/4/09. I was thrilled with everything about this laptop as it had lately what I was looking for. After dealing with and deleting the massive amount of bloatware Sony put on the thing I loaded up Microsoft Task Professional about a week later. The next day, the laptop inexplicably started typing on it's own -- I couldn't even log on to windows. I called Sony, worked for about an hour tiresome various things before they determined my keyboard was faulty and it would require service. It took five time but I was impressed when the technican came to my office and fixed it right in front of me. Problem was, shifting out the keyboard didn't solve the problem. The tech diagnosed the mother directorship and ordered it in on the spot. It came and after watching him totally disassemble the thing on my escritoire about a week later it was determined the replacement board Sony sent was bad. By now, I had had my new laptop about three weeks, having adapted to it for only about six days. I waited another couple of days for another board to arrive and a few more days beyond that for the tech to take place to my office. He came, we had a nice chat while he did it all again and got it running. Here it is a week later now - and it is doing it again. I called Sony today and told them that I had been perseverant enough and just wanted a new unit that they could just swap out the hard drive on. They said no, that I have to send it in to their "armed forces" center -- it'll be another month. So, here I am out $1200 and no laptop. There was no talking to Sony. They apologize but do nothing to contribute to this right. I travel extensively and need a reliable machine to conduct trade. I have had good luck with Sony in the past but never again will I use them. AVOID AVOID AVOID. I doubt very much they can get this resolved by the but the 12 month warrantee is up. In this economy I cannot see why any company would want to treat a guy in this fashion. I have such a lack of confidence in this machine and in Sony that I plan to sell this lemon as in a wink as I get it back. I'm in the market for a new machine now -- and it won't be a Sony.

Significance Every Penny
After owning a low end Dell which died on me in 2 years, I brainwork it was time to make an investment and buy a high powered laptop which would last me awhile. I have always liked Sony's result line and fell in love with this laptop when I found it on Amazon. I have not been dissapointed at all, it is sleek, sensitive and has far more power than I will probably use. The screen is incredible and the blu ray player is great. I would reccomned this laptop to anyone who is looking for a seductive multimedia powerhouse.
